And you seem to be focusing on criminal trials; lawyers are involved and necessary in every field where laws exist (if you're claim that a system that needs laws is broken, then you've already lost the argument). Lawyers often protect the weak and have been the key to the upward mobility of society since the advent of civilization; it's just that the masses, like yourself, tend to be ignorant and believe the propaganda they hear on TV/the movies.
