Next time try to use proper spelling, capitalization and punctuation when you're attempting to hurl insults about literary skills. 2) Indigenous Americans did and do have graphical representation of their languages (writing). Some of the oldest books ever come from Central America (Maya Codices). We are still here, if you really want to KNOW more, just ask.

Apr 19, 2012 - '...created great civilisations, equalling any found in Europe, Asia, or Africa'...Look, I'm interested in these people and their history, but can we do without the P.C. bullshit, please? Do they know what civilisation actually means? Where is the Red Indian Rome, Constantinople, Athens or Alexandria??? Where is their philosophy or poetry recorded? How about their political system? And technological advancement, well, these people were Stone Age... so can we just drop that idiotic intro?
atomicdawg100 Says:
Apr 19, 2012 - @ loopstheloop. To find the "red indian" Rome, Constantinople, or Athens just look at the cities of the citys of the Maya, Aztec, and Inca peoples to name a few. Some of these citys were just as if not more so advanced then what was contemporary in europe or middle east at the time. The city of Teotihuacan for example may have had upwards of 1000000 inhabitants at its height which would easily make it comparable if not slightly larger than Rome and this was in the 2nd century AD. Even the moder

Apr 19, 2012 - dern city of St Louis was built on the remains of a large precolumbiam city called Cahokia which its self may have had 100,000 inhabitants. Although many other first nations peoples did live nomadic lifestyles it was by no means less advanced than eurocentric lifeways, only different. Besides most of what we would now consider "indian" lifestyles was the result of post columbian colonization, and cultural disruption.

May 5, 2012 - Indian derives from the word "indios" meaning "godlike or people close to god" meaning when the first Europeans came they saw us as such and Pure..
Ditotiago6 Says:
May 10, 2012 - Wrong! The word Indios was applied to the first Native Americans who had contact with Europeans because Columbus and that lot tought they had arrived in India when then were really in the Americas

May 12, 2012 - If you actually read any books on the worlds history India wasn't a nation until about 50 to 100 years after the first Spaniards landed on our lands... so consequently they couldn't have known about India when first set sail.

May 13, 2012 - American Indian or Amerindian is probably the best used name of the people as a whole. Or you can call them by tribe. Is there another name you feel is right?
dcj991 Says:
May 15, 2012 - I hope you guys know that the vikings tried conquering america and their ass got handed to them by the natives. And attempts to settle in america were unsuccesful because tens of millions were inhabiting the east coast. Only reason mayflower pilgrims made it was because years prior there was a plauge wiping out over 90% of the natives.
ChocolateChameleon Says:
May 22, 2012 - I'm not Native American however I do agree with you. This guy that u were talking to is so ignorant. The white man massacred you for 500 years and you still live today. That is incredibly admirable. Also I'm confused on what this other guy's point really is. Anyways with the ignorant there is also the open minded :D
