Title: Hung Up On A Dream - The Zombies

Added: May 15, 2008

Author: lorjim58

Duration: 3:2

Description:
From Odessey & Oracle. (Rod Argent)Well I remember yesterdayJust drifting slowly through a crowded streetWith neon darkness shimmering through the hazeA sea of faces rippling in the heatAnd from that nameless changing crowdA sweet vibration seemed to fill the airI stood astounded staring hardAt men with flowers resting in their hair...A sweet confusion filled my mindUntil I woke up only finding everything was just a dreamA dream unusual of its kindThat gave me peace and blew my mindAnd now I'm hung up on a dream...They spoke with soft persuading wordsAbout a living creed of gentle loveAnd turned the arm to sounds unheardAnd showed me strangest clouded sights aboveWhich gentle touched my aching mindAnd soothed the wanderings of my troubled brainSometimes I think I'll never findSuch purity and peace of mind again...

Dec 27, 2011 - After having a transcendent mushroom trip, with feelings of pure love, oneness, and enlightenment, I now fully understand the meaning of this song. It's absolutely brilliant...the last 1:10 in particular may be one of my favorite moments in music

Mar 9, 2012 - Actually, the Zombs recorded Odessey at Abbey Road studios immediately after the Beatles finished recording Pepper's there. As in, a few days later. So they didn't hear the finished album, when this song was recorded. However, they did use the instruments the Beatles left befind, including their mellotron!. The mellotron here is the very same one the Beatles used. @FetaCheese222

Mar 31, 2012 - Wow. I didn't know that. Still, it doesn't mean the Beatles would have heard this song before they recorded A Day In The Life.

mrprogrock1 Says:

serengiv Says:

Apr 3, 2012 - right man .The Capoloavoro Beatles and Beach Boys wld have been proud to achieve, but that 's well the Zombie that got the bell !! and hung up is perhaps the best pop song ever

serengiv Says:

Apr 3, 2012 - this song is so strong, it wld put a so definitive stamp in the ears of every listener, that if Radios had the clever to give the songt a snd chance, the entire humanity wld get stunned and stoned ! In a way, I feel this tune isn 't a human being creation, but a far beyond birth from the chaos

ringolem Says:

Apr 20, 2012 - This has 185,000 views and the rest of the songs from the album are languishing at 10-30,000??? Hung up on a dream is ace, but so is the rest of the album... go try Beechwood Park, for example.

animandolasletras Says:

Apr 27, 2012 - God, their music comes to my soul and always makes me cry.

SMcDuna Says:

May 20, 2012 - time of the season.... couple million all in all! Epic song

SuperGaross Says:

May 21, 2012 - I agree, the whole album is very cool. People have compared them to the Beatles and Beach Boys, but they had their own sound. Somebody also bagged-out Pet Sounds and I want them to sit quietly and listen to "Caroline, no". You can hear Timothy Schmidt`s version too, with the old buggers backing him. Too good! As good as anything recorded at the time.
