Conscious perception is akin to the electromagnetic spectrum. many different things exist on the spectrum and work in different ways but are all relative to each other. Once something operates beyond your own scope of seeing, it becomes extreme. The difference between "normal people" and savants... it's like comparing radio waves with visible light, or gamma with visible light. Just a different aspect of perception.
