Title: Wallander BBC One - Sidetracked - Opening scene
Added: Dec 1, 2008
Author: ilovemuchado
Duration: 3:23
Description:
Apologies for the shakiness of this video; Ken's performance had me so transfixed I almost let go of the camera! And the poor quality, but I promise to have better quality, longer clips soon! Hopefully, the BBC won't catch me... which is why I'll only have this clip on temporarily... I hope you like it!

Dec 13, 2008 - 'Emily Barker and the Red Clay Halo' - the song's off their latest album, 'Despite the Snow'. Catch them in London - beautiful live gigs.

Dec 16, 2008 - Yet again the BBC has produced a cracking detective series - right up there with Waking the Dead, Silent Witness and Dalziel and Pascoe.I hate to say it but this is only because of the unique way the BBC is funded.

Dec 16, 2008 - No need to hate saying it. It's clear even to me that they manage to produce some great stuff precisely because they needn't worry about their advertising income. (And I'm an American, by the by.)

Jan 5, 2009 - I don't like the BBC license fee but as long as they keep making great detective shows like this and my favourite show Waking The Dead I'm prepared to put up with it.I love the gruff way Branagh delivers his opening word in this show (and series).

Jan 27, 2009 - I didn't know that Mankell's books are known in the UK as well. I only know the Swedish versions.

Jan 28, 2009 - I don't think they're extremely well known - however, this series should attract more Wallander fans.

Feb 6, 2010 - These flicks have done a number on Wallander's popularity, I'd say. I didn't hear of them until as of late, when a good number of American acquintances started to more or less simultaneously telling me how much they loved Wallander. Fortunately they went and read the books too. And I have to admit that I've no complaints of the films themselves either. Leave it to the British if you want a good cop film, I'd say.

Apr 16, 2010 - No one does mystery/crime drama like the Brits. These books come to life with a brilliant cast, unbelievable scripts, and stunning contemporary cinematography. American crime/drama shows have such a different beat, they are typically more about the violence, and less about the mystery. If you love this clip check out , PRIME SUSPECT with Helen Mirren, and Second Sight, staring Clive Owen. MASTERPIECE Contemporary on PBS , now at your local video store.

Jun 27, 2010 - Anyone looking for the ringtone from Wallander, I can send it to them. The original, and the edited one, without the 'beep-beep' at the end.

Dec 17, 2010 - I usually love my country dearly, but Showcase is the only channel in Canada that gets Wallander, and only then inconsistently.
mingmcv Says:
Jun 9, 2011 - The writer (Mankell) is the fifth most read author in the world these days! I haven't seen the series on TV. Ken looks great and I am sure I would love to see the whole thing. But the books.... I cannot let go. They are absolutely wonderful! so much suspense is unreal. In America it's a lot about violence. In the north of Europe it's more about suspense. As roxamills mentioned earlier (much earlier actually), it's all about mystery and I LOVE IT! Thanks you for sharing this.
