I'll admit, technically he's good, but when it comes to musical creativity, Jimi was the man. The point of the comment wasn't that "He could play better", the point was that he was more unique; But at the end of it all, each to their own, man, everyone has their own tastes and I guess Satriani isn't totally to mine.

May 20, 2012 - btw I have everything Hendrix made from what I know of and the same with Satch and honesty I can say that Satch is much more refined than Jimi(most probably cause he died so early, but he would have gotten better in various ways Im sure) and not taking anything away from Jimi but Joe has so many emotions he can display in a song without words that Im sure Jimi himself would be impressed. Whos better? Thats all in the ear of the beholder...for me Joe for you Jimi, but dont be insulting about it:P

People get so caught up in their own tastes and self-absorption it's just laughable. It's insulting to the art of music and guitar playing to claim one is better than the other. These guys are expressing themselves through music and their instrument. It's such a personal thing and it blows my mind that it gets turned into some sort of competition or ranking.

May 20, 2012 - Thats all a matter of perspective really, I personally think overall Satch is much much better than Jimi and yes I do give credit where credit is due, but really its all in the ear of the beholder. Like I've seen BB King a few times and honesty I thought it sucked but most others were "wowed" or something. Has Joe done as much for the guitar world Jimi did? Arguably probably not, is Jimi Hendrix better(more skilled/emotional/masterful/whatever) than Joe? I personally say no:) Rock on Joe!

And the whole way Coldplay dealt with the situation was really pathetic. Or I suppose they DIDN'T deal with the situation, really. They just avoided the topic until he had to take them to court. There are similarities in chord progression and then there are total ripoffs, and Viva La Vida is a total ripoff.
