Apr 24, 2012 - Yeah but think about this, Virtual Dj is just what it says VIRTUAL! Or NOT REAL!!! Don't worry kid your going about it the right way, and down the road when you've mastered all the necessary skills it will come to you very easily and you'll have something to be proud of!!! Because then you'll be a REAL DJ not some computer/program using PHONY!!!

housemanchi Says:

Apr 24, 2012 - I'll agree with you bro, but everyone has a slightly different style of doing it. I think he's trying to make it easier for people watching or the less experienced to understand. He's basically just trying to get a point across. Been djing since '82 and i never touch the platter, i can just grab records and instantly beat match them without checking them and keep them perfectly matched for as long as i want or need only using the pitch control.

housemanchi Says:

Apr 24, 2012 - Ebay, discogs, musicstack, gemm, craigslist,(For online). Or try and find local record shops in your area. Also try your local thrift and resale shops, you can sometimes get lucky there!

housemanchi Says:

Apr 24, 2012 - I think he mean't vinyl records!

housemanchi Says:

Apr 24, 2012 - That's what i call the djing for dummies button!!! That's only for the fakes! the Phonies! and the wannabe's!!!

Apr 24, 2012 - You're right about that! definitely a true statement!Chicago, 30yr veteran DJ.

housemanchi Says:

Apr 24, 2012 - I know many who do it this way it's kinda the difference between the amateurs and the masters. Been doing it that way for almost 30 yrs!

housemanchi Says:

Apr 24, 2012 - Depends on what you have to spend? I suggest a pair of good used technics 1200's and a basic 2 channel mixer to start. Pick up some used vinyl and have at it! Practice and enjoy!!!

housemanchi Says:

Apr 24, 2012 - I second that! Yes that can also be said about the early Disco/Boogie/Funk stuff 70's thru the 80's it would go thru some crazy tempo changes at times due to alot of it being made using live instruments.

housemanchi Says:

Apr 24, 2012 - Yours is a blueprint in how to be a amateur! Pro's don't have to use anything but the pitch!!!

May 24, 2012 - I'm an x dj fo 18 years doing clubs all over the united States. Touching the platters is very important, it helps ompensate the speed alot faster and of course changing tht epitch control. another thing as most dj's know as a rule of thumb .7 is one beat for 100bpm-125 then its like .6 for about 135bpm+. if your songs are marked on how many bpms they are this scale gets you real close This guys is a dj wannabe.

strachhead Says:

May 25, 2012 - I have some trouble with transitions like when you drop the other records orwin to drop the highs the mediums or the lows. So are you supposed to take the highs from 1 record and the lows from another record and put them together where are you supposed to play everything on the record against the other record. I can't find any dj around here pittsburgh to help me they are all stuck up I think they're better. I know I'm not the best but I try everyday to do good with what I have.
