Apr 30, 2012 - Electric was easier for me to learn on and the best guitar for under $300 use to be a Strat Squire made by Fender. I say use to be because the last time I bought a guitar was over 20 years ago ... Check them out and ask question plus take your time. You want a guitar that will hold it's tuning. Good luck

My kids are10 and 8 and had been bugging me for a while about learning the guitar. I bought them guitars and then i caught the bug as well. May 19, 2012 - Yes, the "O" means Open String and you strum it. If there was an "X" then you would not strum that particular string. And if that "X" was on an inside string (Strings 5,4,3,2) then you would either not strum it or just slightly lean on it with the side of your finger in order to shut it off so it makes no noise.
