People love Joan Crawford because she was a brilliant actor not because she made her children do things they resented in their childhood.. Jun 22, 2011 - Joan's grandson was at the Turner Classic Movies film festival last year and someone asked about "Mommie Dearest". He said his mother (Christina's sister) denies anything like that ever happened. No one in the family supports Christina's story...and none of them have a reason to lie about it, there would be no consequences now with Joan long dead. No doubt Joan wasn't a great mom, but it's very possible Christina made up most of that book.

They dont care that Joan had two other daughters who said repeatedly they had a loving, caring mom, or that there are other accounts that paint Christina as less than a perfect angel. Jul 25, 2011 - Oh, please. I was disciplined as a child by both mother and father. Today my father would be arrested for "child abuse"  It never hurt me and I'm a better human being for it. It builds character and prepares you for the many disappointments and hurtful experiences in life. Joan Crawford's daughter Christina wanted to be treated like a movie star's kid - - handed everything on a silver platter. Because JC knew what deprivation was, she did not want to spoil her children. JC was GREAT!

Her credibility as an actress has almost been stripped from her due to Christina's tell-all book and the movie. Unfortunately, when I think of JC, I think of pyscho-mom, not her acting abilities.
