Oct 30, 2010 - Frank is the most astute musical composer of the 20th century. His music will be recognized for years to come as some of the most influential work ever recorded.
NorthernpikePhish Says:
Nov 8, 2010 - Frank was known to turn on his Wah pedal and leave it in the rolled back position, attaining that low freq fuzz sound.

Nov 24, 2010 - Far and away my all-time favourite of Uncle Frank's air sculptures.
BognarRegis Says:
Nov 25, 2010 - The funny thing is, if you ever get to see the whole special, the house band plays on the main stage for about all of three minutes and the rest of the show is focussed on Zappa's band on the side stage.

Nov 26, 2010 - Wonderful band, stunning song, ace guitar. Thanks for everything Frank.

Dec 4, 2010 - Y'know, I love this clip--I really do--I just wish there could have been the female backing vocals. The song's just not the same without it. But WTF, it's still a fabulous performance & we're lucky clips like this exist. Thank God for YouTube!!!
BognarRegis Says:
Dec 15, 2010 - The audio on this version is from a tape of the FM simulcast of the program. The audio on the other version was mixed for little tinny sounding TV speakers. Hence the rawer quality on the other.

Dec 24, 2010 - Frank plays the guitar like its a parasitic twin he just wants to get off...also L.S.D. shit loads of L.S.D.

Jan 6, 2011 - Could be at one of the Swedish Folk Parks -- they have them all over the country and bands often played at many of them over the Folketspark season, which ran from about the summer solstice to the end of October. The Mothers must have been something to experience for the people used to European schlager music...

Jan 20, 2011 - Excellent! The solo with Duke's funky keyboard playing behind is just awesome. Can you do the same with the sound on Cosmik Debris?

Apr 15, 2011 - FZ always assembled great bands and this line-up is one of the greatest of the great. Thanks for putting it up here.

May 16, 2011 - Tripendicular! Blistering Zap solo and a superb arrangement extremely well played by a totally grooving band. Truly wonderful. Thanks for posting.

Jun 18, 2011 - I dunno Frank looks pretty sick (in both senses of the word) and angry too. It isn't long since the whole Smoke on the Water incident, it seems to me he had an edge then beyond the obvious irritation he always had with the stupidity of the rest of us. The clothes must have been lent by Swedish TV though lol. I think I prefer Python boots.I can and have listened to this a lot. I also realise no one thrashed the SG like this.God bless his little cotton buds. Buy him a horse someone.

Aug 4, 2011 - I need to get me a suit coat like Franks! Damn that is fresh. Bring back 1973 fashion please.

Aug 28, 2011 - Amazing how the audio has evolved. Frank would be proud.

Mar 8, 2012 - This was at Skansen in Stockholm, I believe. I heard lots of stories of this gig when I was working there as a struggling but carefree and dopey young hipster back in the mid to late 1980s.

Mar 30, 2012 - I saw all (most?) of this show as part of a Zappa compilation at the Clinton Street Theater in Portland, OR. There were moments-- at the end of solos, for example-- where the movie theater audience burst into applause. It's just so damn hot, you can't help it. Find the complete video and strap yourself in!
BognarRegis Says:
Mar 30, 2012 - I agree. I think most of the show is up in pieces here on YT. The whole DVD that I have sounds great if you hear it through a decent sound system too.

Apr 25, 2012 - Thanks for this great upload. Do you know where i can get the whole video/dvd of this or download of this quality.
calineophyte Says:
Apr 30, 2012 - The backup singers are in my head. "I'm ridin' a tiny horse, His name is Mighty Little. He's a good horse even though he's too little to put a big saddle or blanket on, anyway, anyway." (I might not have this exactly right but that is how i remember it.) Brilliant and funny stuff.
