Mar 18, 2012 - Saw them in Tampa at Ribfest...amazing show. Doobie Brothers the next year after that too!! Love Ribfest. Such good taste in who they book :) Grand Funk were incredible. They've DEFINITELY still got it. No doubt.

Mar 20, 2012 - The intro to this song is simply brilliant. A touch of magic by GF which will live on forever.

patrickmikulin Says:

Mar 28, 2012 - great song and I appreciate what you are trying to replicate , but there are 2 glaring mistakes , Don Brewer , the drummer, sings the verses..not Mark Farmer..Farner sings harmony and does sing the bridge

SHADOWBOXERBAYBEE Says:

Mar 28, 2012 - Yeah, I'm glad to see someone noticed Don's thick and throaty voice. I love their version. It was like an apology for selling out after Closer To Home with their pop stuff. This was their comeback of how they started in the late 60s

Mar 29, 2012 - what a damn good song !

wefysan58 Says:

Apr 1, 2012 - this is pure fine shit...i'm listening thinking its 1969 or something cause the vocals are so strong and the sound so straight up in your face rock aka. retro, and then French Lick, 2012 , I shit my pants batman...

immature124 Says:

Apr 4, 2012 - there was no need for a fade away in the end, it should have just kept on going...

Gohot229 Says:

Apr 19, 2012 - If this don't bring Vietnam into your head nothing will. Loading Slicks, loading weapons, flying in, the sound of the blades, the sound of war, fearing nothing, numb. in love with the hate. Everything in hyperspeed, the crack of fire, the smoke and flame. Knowing that if you had no fear you would make it. The steady blade chop and you were going back. This time you made it, everybody made it. going back to the ivory pipe. to the night, the stars, and numbness.

EEEEE2113 Says:

Apr 20, 2012 - Before the time of corporate created music, when music was played and written by musicians.

dictator54 Says:

Apr 22, 2012 - I was in vietnam i really don't know why this would bring the love of hate and all the fukin bullshit yu write

dictator54 Says:

Apr 22, 2012 - IFyu were in vietnam at the time and yu didn't fear yu were one of the very few it was a living nightmare and returning home some of my buddies killed themselves because of it, myself i try not to think of the fukin place, and thank the man above i got to see my daughter grow up.

joebgood1953 Says:

Apr 28, 2012 - I remember the first time I heard of Gimme Shelter it was Grand Funk Railroad who did it. It was great. And it still is. That was the early 70's

Vaga365 Says:

Apr 29, 2012 - Grand Funk Bad Ass.

metalmikeinoakland Says:

May 13, 2012 - GFRR's bass playing is phe-nomenal as usual (i have read he had a special custom amp rig, top to bottom). the stones version is a "rock song." this is HARD ROCK on steroids x 10. the two aren't even in the same universe. you can't compare the two. annd i always thought this was one of the best "cover versions of a famous song" ever cut. and holy crap it actually got substantial Top 40 airplay (#61 billboard/pop, six weeks charted. (Iron Man/black sabbath hit #1 on san diego AM radio!)

carlofei Says:

May 20, 2012 - meglio dei rolling stones

wyldeyouth Says:

May 20, 2012 - Agreed, Grand's version is full of so much more emotion than when stones play it.
