Feb 6, 2009 - The SG design was originally a new design for the Les Paul. Gibson discontinued the original design in favour of the "SG" shape. Then guys like Eric Clapton started using the older Les Pauls and that design came back into fashion. Also it was said that Les Paul himself didn't like the new shape, so they went back to the old Les Paul shape and renamed the newer one the SG.

Jul 2, 2009 - Right, but that looks like a late 60s SG not 1962 as Graham said (just my guess obviously). It has features of a late 60s SG Special, with the wrap around / batwing pickguard and P90 pick ups. In photos you can also see Graham has removed the vibrola, leaving the 3 screw holes, just like what Pete Townshend used to do.
