May 11, 2012 - Wow.. I am speechless.
veganthrope Says:
May 11, 2012 - The soul is a dumb concept.. Do you believe that a developmentally disabled person has a retarded soul? If you suffer from dementia in old age and die, is your soul demented for 'eternity'? If death is freedom, then serial killers and mass murderers are our liberators. According to your warped philosophy, Hitler, Stalin, and Pol Pot should be canonized for freeing millions from their 'iron bars of confinement'.
Lemos Geddo Says:
May 13, 2012 - slave soul? Does it exists?
Krynaf Says:
May 14, 2012 - What if dementia and disabilities were a property of the physical body, not of the soul? Did that thought ever cross your mind?Death might actually release the "true" self of the human beings suffering from those conditions.I do not endorse this philosophy however. I think that death is certainly the end of one road. I have no idea if there is anything beyond that and that is why I think we need to mainly concentrate on making the best of our existence in this world.
veganthrope Says:
May 14, 2012 - The so called, 'soul' is a concept resulting from the mind not being able to conceive a state of nonexistence. True self makes no sense since we change over time. Ha! 'True self' verses 'false self' is nonsense.Death is exactly the same as before one was born. No need to glamorize death with the idiotic soul theory. Everything that has a beginning has an end including the sun, the earth, universe, and even space/time. To believe that we bypass death via the soul is simply hubris.
Krynaf Says:
May 14, 2012 - How do you know for sure what was there before you were born?
Krynaf Says:
May 14, 2012 - Your argument is the same seemingly rational argument that all of the skeptics are using. But when you do you make the mistake of claiming to know about facts that you obviously do not know about. In the end what you are doing is nothing more than making your own guess which can be as good or as bad as the one of anyone who thinks that there is a soul.I think that there is still too much that we do not know. Things we need to know in order to be able to really settle this argument.
OfManyLove Says:
May 15, 2012 - The last bit takes my breath away :O
wendufeng Says:
May 15, 2012 - Although, I agree with you veganthrope that the soul is nonexistent, your tone is harsh and rather than illuminate the concept of a non-self you're forcing it upon people. Logically, a "true self" is a contradiction to nature, but these arguments require lengthy paragraphs and examples to demonstrate their validity. I agree with Krynaf that what is important is not to fixate on what can or cannot be determined, but rather the quality of our time spent in our "iron bars of confinement".
wendufeng Says:
May 15, 2012 - I do not know what "rational argument that all of the skeptics are using" is, but the concept that a self is nonexistent has existed for hundreds of years in Buddhism philosophy. Therefore, if you're referring to those "same seemingly rational argument[s]," then, yes, I suppose many people are using those arguments. However according to the Tao philosophy, after death all people rejoin the great energy flowing through the universe, which may indeed bring us to our primordial beginnings.
Krynaf Says:
May 16, 2012 - Very interesting, really. I do respect that certain ideas have been around for very long and I also like comparing those ideas to one another. I just believe that there is a little more to life than being self organizing automatons consisting of cells.
MrRottenPotato Says:
May 17, 2012 - Dat soundtrack.
tarakkiyot Says:
May 17, 2012 - believing in life after death does not stop you from concentrating on making the best (!) of your existence.
tarakkiyot Says:
May 17, 2012 - frees where?
Krynaf Says:
May 17, 2012 - Right. Even if there is anything else after death, this life should still be lived to its fullest.
LaughinGarry Says:
May 18, 2012 - Man. This song itself is the road to awe.
Married2ThaDeen Says:
May 18, 2012 - I fell in love with this soundtrack...the movie was brilliant....the arrivals was by far the best documentary i have ever seen.
Andreaki01 Says:
May 19, 2012 - I don't know if there us life after what we call death however, our life is a constant fight for salvation. For our purpose is to reach the "divine".. To become better every day with our actions. By getting stronger and more 'clean' is a step closer to God. And God is waiting for us after this life.. To the very end.. Just our souls and God.. This is after life story.. The true paradise.. Our pure souls and the Divine...
MrRottenPotato Says:
May 22, 2012 - The true divine is to live your life as a saint and to not expect for an afterlife to be rewarded. Sacrifice your life with nothing to gain, THAT gets you closer to divine.
womblewandering Says:
