Apr 5, 2012 - I agree with those in favor or Mr Branagh's pace and rhythm. I think this is brilliant. The urgency is much appreciated over those actors that want to relish in the prose. During this bit of the live performance, we all think, "oh god here comes that line, here comes this soliloquy. How is the actor going to do it this time?" It gets tiresome ha. But Branagh does this Zen version? But, what do i know? I am usually talking out me arse ha

ELMENDORFX Says:

Apr 5, 2012 - And, again this is a film with time restraints, when movement and action take precedent over verse

TheMorrochben Says:

Apr 29, 2012 - how so? Its a classic soliloquy that is used to portray Hamlet's insanity and his question to either continue fighting in his life or to give in to his inner demons and commit suicide, anything but gay.

Noogai45 Says:

Apr 30, 2012 - I pity you for your inability to appreciate the finer things in life.

May 4, 2012 - out of the shakespeare plays that i have read, hamlet has some of the most insightful speeches ever created...

SurvivorsOfTitanic Says:

May 9, 2012 - Notice how Hamlet aggressively talks to his own reflection as if chastising himself for not taking action. Branagh's directorial choice to include Claudius in this scene, right behind the mirror, emphasizes the fact that Hamlet himself (his reflection) is the ONLY thing that's in the way of carrying out his revenge. This scene brilliantly captures Hamlet's inner struggle with himself. That's what I think at least.

miladymell Says:

May 25, 2012 - I've seen Hamlet performed by Kevin Kline, Richard Burton and Jude Law. I run hot and cold with Branagh's take on this part, but there are moments where it really works ...especially with the "what dreams may come..."
