Mar 7, 2012 - The beach stage still looks stunning today; when it was first shown many people did not believe it was real-time rendered.. IMHO, DOA3's lighting effects are much better than DOA4, whose visuals tended to look flat.DOA3 IMHO has the best stages by far of all the DOA games; Lorelei, the beach, the castle, the mountain,etc. My biggest niggle was the weird, random, and nebulous system of unlocking costumes.

Mar 28, 2012 - I will say that I really enjoy your reviews, but Dead or Alive 3 was the best in the entire series. DoA 3 and DoA 4 are MUCH different from each other. 4 is a mess of button-mashing; there is very little control over your opponent. DoA 3 -- especially 3.1 -- is the BEST fighting game ever made. You can control every aspect of the fight from start to finish. The moves have a purpose, and it was at just the right pace. Play 3.1 (the Japanese version) and you will understand.

Apr 18, 2012 - Idk what you were doing in 4 but 4 has a deep, perfectly controllable combat system. The counter system made it more involved than probably any other fighter that was relevant at the time. It was a game that you really had to invest time in to get competitive at vs. other players, like most good fighting games.
