"Breathe" (also known as Breathe in the Air) is a song by progressive rock band Pink Floyd and appears on their album The Dark Side of the Moon.The authorship and composition of this song is credited to David Gilmour and Richard Wright for the music, and Roger Waters for the lyrics. The song is slow-paced and rich in texture, deploying David Gilmour's skilled multitrack performances of slide guitar and lead vocals in gentle, warm timbres. On the original Dark Side of the Moon album, it is a single track that is preceded by "Speak To Me". The song is considered to be a representation of birth, with a relief from labour. Its lyrics, written by Roger Waters, beseech the listener to pause in their seemingly endless labours and take notice of more meaningful pursuits in life.Approximately three minutes in length, it is the first song on the album, preceded only by wordless screaming and sound effects found across the album in "Speak to Me". Since this sound collage segues directly into "Breathe" through the use of a sustained backwards piano chord, they are usually played together on the radio and the two are conjoined on most CD versions of the album.

Apr 21, 2012 - to those that say that gilmour is better or that waters is better, you know something....you are wrong. they both excel at that which they choose to do. one can put more feeling and emotion into music than i ever thought possible and the other is simply a lyric genius. put them together and you get pink floyd...something that through it's sheer greatness is just that. it is a category all by itself. i wish they would have stayed together, if only long enough to make another pink floyd album

Apr 13, 2012 - Seriously... how many lead-singers from his generation still sound as good? Jagger, Daltrey, Plant, McCartney- all sound like crap these days. David's voice still sounds great. And his guitar skills are still (ahem) quite, quite excellent!!! God I wish they would tour again, even though RIck passed away. Waters said he'd so it. But Gilmour said no. Oh well.
