Oct 11, 2008 - i love the way every comment on this is written by people with actual real intellect. yeah anyway this piece is pretty amazing, mainly i think its because of its modal character and structural irregularities.

Oct 11, 2008 - Played the my 9th Grade year for UIL in San Antonio. We got straight 1's on stage, but 2 2's in sightreading, not ending up with the trophy. However, this is one of the best pieces ever written, i feel.

Oct 15, 2008 - Awesome! I`m sure I heard this in the background when Anne Boleyn was praying, in the scene just before her death, in the final episode of the Tudors. So moving

Oct 15, 2008 - I heard this piece is played in Master and commander, but I'm not sure I remember that song in that particular film However, I think this is one of the best sounds a human being can do, and that makes Vaughan Williams one of the bests musicians of the entire world. Even though he is now dead, his feelings and his soul will always remain with us, fortunately.

Oct 16, 2008 - Nice job! I just was wondering why you were subdividing the dotted triplet rhythm in the middle section. I feel it has to move forward and subdividing makes it slow down.

Oct 17, 2008 - I don't know how this performance will rate, since it just started, but I have to say this piece moves me beyond any other. It is the most beautiful music I've ever heard, and I LOVE a lot of songs. Words fail to express my love for this one. Thank you, Tallis and Vaughan Williams, for the auditory thrill of my life.

Oct 25, 2008 - Its a fine piece. Takes the 'need' for formality out of music.

Oct 27, 2008 - Oh wow, are they playing this piece for Maryland All-State this year? I played in that group when I was in high school, a few years ago. Man, I wish we had the chance to play this piece! So gorgeous. If the concert's nearby, I'll go watch you guys! :DI'm not sure if I prefer Five Variants of Dives and Lazarus (which wears its heart more on sleeve, so to speak), or this piece.Does anyone know the name of this orchestra?

Oct 28, 2008 - Listening to the beginning, you can see exactly where Thomas Newman got his inspiration for the score to The Shawshank Redemption

Oct 29, 2008 - I'm in 9th grade and I got to audition for some special orchestra and I have to learn how to play the whole thing in an hour at school tomorrow before I audition 0.o. The sheet music is pretty difficult to look at.

Nov 1, 2008 - yes, the Eugene Ormandy version is excellent. This video, however, is very well conducted as well. I'm impressed.

Nov 1, 2008 - the exact same thing happened to me. I've purchased other CDs with this song on them, but the one on my Planets disc is the one that kills me every time.

Nov 21, 2008 - George Steel, the new Director of The Dallas Opera composed a Mass based on this Tallis theme some years ago. It is a deeply spiritual work and never failed to move me in the times that I heard it.
