Mar 14, 2012 - The movie is boring. Period and everyone of you motherfuckers saying people who think 2001 is boring are stupid or movie-cretins needs to check themselfs you fucking movie snobs. It's about taste. You can't dictate taste.
keverman804 Says:
Mar 14, 2012 - if you watch the last 23mins while playing Echoes by Pink Floyd it is trip
Bob27Fat Says:
Mar 23, 2012 - 2001 is an amazing movie, but I'll admit, it can be excruciatingly boring at parts. The opening with 6 minutes of nothing on screen was very excessive and the last 25 minutes are really weird. Plus, the monkey part drags a bit, too. However, it's cinematography, striking visuals, and classical score save the movie from being a bore (*cough* Tree of Life). 8/10.

Mar 25, 2012 - Have you ever seen any other Kubrick movies? Like, Spartacus, Dr, Strangelove, Clockwork Orange,The Shining, Full Metal Jacket, and Eyes Wide Shut?
winesti Says:
Mar 29, 2012 - I encountered this problem before when commenting on your posts. The reason we call you "this guy" and stuff like that is because your videos are presented in such a professional way that it makes it seem as though you would be too busy to respond to comments, therefore we do not talk as if you are listening. It reminds me of in Scott Pilgrim when Scott showed up to he and Ramona's date late because he assumed she was too cool to be there on time. I sincerely hope you take no offense to this.

Mar 29, 2012 - Was the part with the black at the beginning because I remember there being subtle music in that. I remember it because my dad made us sit through the whole thing in order to `set the mood` as Kubrik intended it to. I think it was worth it in that regard. If this is not the part you are referring to, please refresh my memory so I can better grasp what you are getting at. (I only watched it for the first time about a month and a half ago).

Apr 1, 2012 - I just started watching your videos and im already a fan. I was wondering if you've seen Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange, and if you have what do you think about it.
JPizzle1122 Says:
Apr 2, 2012 - Glad to hear that. Thanks for watching.
JPizzle1122 Says:
Apr 2, 2012 - I'll be completely honest -- that explanation makes absolutely zero sense at all. I specifically say in every episode to leave *me* your comment review.I read them. No one else.
winesti Says:
Apr 2, 2012 - Oh....whoops. Well thanks for taking the time to read them.
GallopingPints Says:
Apr 4, 2012 - Well here's my 0.02. I read the entire book series - incredible! I spent the last 2 months of high school not studying, but reading these 4 books - really interesting. Hard to believe that Clarke managed to predict futuristic technologies with sufficient accuracy. The Kubrick film is exceptional cinematography, yet very slow. If It were a tad more up to pace, I'd love it even more.IMHO full metal jacket is quite good in regard to pace, but a clockwork orange has the same issues

Apr 12, 2012 - Listen closely, what I'm telling you know may one day save your life. If you find yourself in outer-space without a space-suit, DON'T hold your breath. Exhale. Otherwise your lungs will explode :).
JPizzle1122 Says:
Apr 14, 2012 - Shitty comment by a typical film hipster douche... they don't understand that some people are perfectly capable of understanding everything Kubrick set out to do, but don't particularly care for SIX MINUTES OF BLACK WITHOUT AUDIO. That isn't art... it's just pointless and boring. You can convey your precious "important message" without wasting the audience's time... the movie could be 80 minutes long, and share the same point even more effectively.
JPizzle1122 Says:
Apr 14, 2012 - Typically, an intermission resides at the middle of a film, not at the ends. Again, stop being a pompous douche, and pay attention to my well-written review. I "got" this movie. I enjoyed it. It was very good. But the pacing was fucking terrible... it in no way contributed to any "deeper meaning" by showing purple mountains for the last 30 minutes of the film... followed by another four of just blackness. You admit to Fast Forwarding through this film. *THAT* is proof it isn't great.
JPizzle1122 Says:
Apr 14, 2012 - Ashamed for using the name of a professional? I'm sorry... are you saying I *don't* make my living from this site?Good heavens, you're a delusional douchebag.
Legometallica09 Says:
Apr 16, 2012 - Jonathan, you should totally review Jaws and E.T for Steven Spielberg's birthday...both are classics.
Norm1011616 Says:
Apr 24, 2012 - I think the review here is a little narrow. There are many ways to transfer information and you shouldn't limit how a story or message should be conveyed. If you had responded to the film with an "it's not for me" attitude then that's fine, but to expect a film to be made a different way or to achieve goals you have constructed yourself, as opposed to goals Kubrick intended to attain; well it's just the consumerist/disposable mentality Kubrick wanted to avert from watching his films.... cont.
Norm1011616 Says:
Apr 24, 2012 - In the end all you have achieved with your highly subjective critique of this film (as objectively no-one can argue that this film isn't a masterclass) is to alienate anyone that doesn't agree with you. I fully respect people who don't feel invigorated or fascinated by the images on screen while watching 2001, however I do. I don't think it's boring. However the way you posit characteristics of the film are to suggest I am wrong in my natural responses I have to the stimuli I receive.
Eastwoodisboss Says:
Apr 24, 2012 - I Sort of liked 2001, but it moved so SLOW! I don't think I'll watch it anytime soon
jonathanokoro35 Says:
Apr 27, 2012 - I respect others opinions on 2001. Here my 2 cents:I didn't realize I was watching a film until the middle, it felt like I was listening to music while watching the weird images on the computer screen. The music is art, the images are trippy art but I came to watch a movie with a story. Sure the story is there (in the middle) but the light show made no sense. It would have served the story to see stars more often. I enjoyed Disney's Fantasia much more. Beautiful music and stories.

May 25, 2012 - FUCKING BORING

TeamPlasmaKingN Says:
Mar 12, 2012 - Kubrick isn't known for making long and boring movies, anyone who says that just can't get into it. Which I can understand why they couldn't at times. I'd give this movie a 9/10.
