May 15, 2012 - @Quazyqat You should learn what "morality" means before you support a character that lacks it.
MrAsianRocks Says:
May 15, 2012 - HAHA NIGGERS
Quazyqat Says:
May 15, 2012 - You didn't really watch the movie did you. Santiago WAS NOT beaten within an inch of his life. He had a heart condition that the base Dr. misdiagnosed. Why aren't you jumping all over him for incompetence? Now that we both agree that your statement "Going around the law and claiming a "higher purpose" is reprehensible." is untrue, lets move on. Regarding your statement about pinning on two marines, Let me just say that the phrase" I was just obeying orders didn't work at Nuremburg either.

May 19, 2012 - It was the marines' duty to disobey an illegal order and they should be punished for it. However, those who give illegal orders should be punished as well. Members of service swear an oath to uphold the law. If they have a problem with the laws, then they shouldn't be tasked with the duty of maintaining it nor should they weasel out of it when caught breaking them. "I think the law is stupid" is not a legitimate defense in a military court.
Quazyqat Says:
May 19, 2012 - Really can't argue with you. I believe that in this movie, Col. Jessup was doing what he thought best for his men, the Marines and the Country. he was violating an order, and must certainly suffer the consequences of disobeying that order. I still think that we need more men willing to risk their careers, and their lives, in doing what is right. This is a great speech, and I agree with my whole heart in it.

May 20, 2012 - Someone should put a giant LOL on tom cruise's face at 1:40, he just won thx to the villain being a dumbass :D
sweetheart2109 Says:
May 20, 2012 - Jack owned Tom in this scene. I'll take that back Jack owned Tom throughout the whole film
pollitttyler Says:
May 21, 2012 - What I meant was today's main actors, like Clooney. I consider De Niro better than Nicholson.
pollitttyler Says:
May 21, 2012 - Hopefully
pollitttyler Says:
May 21, 2012 - IMO, Will Farrell is not funny.
pollitttyler Says:
May 21, 2012 - Unfortunately however you are in the minority. I wish more 16 year olds favorite actors were actors like Jack Nicholson.
pollitttyler Says:
May 21, 2012 - I totally agree.
pollitttyler Says:
May 21, 2012 - I know right! I mean come on, Pacino, De Niro, Nicholson, Brando, Stewart, these are the best actors of ALL time.
pollitttyler Says:
May 21, 2012 - I don't mean to offend anyone, but the majority can't. I don't know any teens or people in their early 20s that watch the good films with REAL actors. Not to say there aren't any out there.
pollitttyler Says:
May 21, 2012 - Was Nicholson the angry bad guy in One Flew over a Cuckoo's Nest? Or Chinatown? Terms of Endearment? I'd say Nicholson was the best part of The Departed.
hajlender12 Says:
May 21, 2012 - Well I have a friend whose favorite actor is TOm Hanks, but then again I have a friend whose favorite movie is Transformers so I can see how we are in a minority
smallpotatoes989 Says:
May 21, 2012 - that is it! it is obvius: Jack is the coolest guy on the planet!

toppcatt99 Says:
May 24, 2012 - I guess we have to pretend that oboma is not a complete joke..
AntonioDR88 Says:
May 27, 2012 - u cunt !

VideoMask93 Says:
May 15, 2012 - Those were laws that were inherently unjust and unconstitutional. The Supreme Court ruling has since been rendered completely obsolete. The difference between that and ordering an illegal punishment and pinning it on two Marines who followed orders can hardly be overstated. The other aspect of this that's reprehensible is Jessep's simple disregard for Santiago's well-being. Santiago only wants a transfer, which would be easy to arrange, but instead he's beaten within an inch of his life.
