Title: New Sony Crystal LED Display Technology FIRST HANDS ON

Description:
To learn more: http://www.sony.com/cesCheck out Sony's "Crystal LED Display," shown on a Full HD, 55-inch prototype model at CES. It is the industry's first 55-inch Full HD self-emitting display using LEDs as the light source. It showcases using unique methods to mount ultrafine LEDs in each of the Red-Green-Blue (RGB) colors, equivalent to the number of pixels (approximately six-million LEDs for Full HD). The RGB LED light source is mounted directly on the front of the display, dramatically improving the light use efficiency. This results in images with strikingly higher contrast (in both light and dark environments), wider color gamut, superb video image response time, and wider viewing angles when compared to existing LCD and plasma displays, with low power consumption. Furthermore, due to the display's structure, the "Crystal LED Display" is also ideal for large screens. Parallel to its continued development and commercialization of organic light emitting diode (OLED) displays, Sony will work conscientiously to bring the "Crystal LED Display" to market. You can learn more about this new display tech when Anthony from SGNL by Sony chats with a member from the product team.Subscribe for CES coverage!http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=sgnlMore SGNLhttp://www.youtube.com/sgnl

Feb 4, 2012 - its funny how sony is going down on profit just because of the televisions 2.2 billion dollar!

NewDawnAnon Says:

Feb 4, 2012 - at 3:14 it seems the new one has NO glare vs older model.

TurkishHegemony Says:

Feb 17, 2012 - CLED a new technology Sony invents, Samsung and LG are so far behind Sony, they only started using OLED, a technology Sony invented years ago

TheFred128 Says:

Feb 17, 2012 - i prefer plasma panasonic viera.

TheFred128 Says:

Feb 17, 2012 - only show images with little movementnow show videos, games running with big movement I want to see the resolution dynamics fall, like all lcd, ledThese real 1080p tvs send to each eye, when in 3D?Plasmas can have the image in real 1080p,for each eye in glasses.

solarfox2010 Says:

Feb 29, 2012 - Now this technology will go in drawer and wait for few years than will be out again (maybe) and bring to market.Same as LG and Samsung doing with OLED. They have OLED almost in same time as LCD. But it`s so cheap to produce rest imagine for yourself....

jd18504 Says:

Feb 29, 2012 - all 3DTVs except for LG's Cinema TV's can show 1080p per eye, as long as the source is sequential. This should have no resolution fall, this is not an "LED" display, samsung made a huge mistake in calling those led backlit LCDs "LED," that should've been the name of this. Each pixel is made up of 3 individual leds for red blue green, that's 6,220,800 leds, and they should have near to zero input lag, so no motion res drop and also Perfect Blacks and Whites!

metcard Says:

Mar 3, 2012 - give me this tv already, assholes.

Sitti2300 Says:

Mar 8, 2012 - Not just Sony. Everybody is losing money on TV, that includes Sharp, Panasonic, Samsung, LG, I mean everybody. Actually maybe not Sharp... Anyway because of price of TV is dropping sharply faster than expected, more TVs they make, more loses they take. 2012 is the year of how each company restructure its TV devisions and how much they can reduce the cost. Sony is expecting to turn it into profit over next 2 to 3 years.

mrdiamondback1 Says:

Mar 8, 2012 - we can only hope... Well the ps3 is selling very much as you see in vgchartz(dot) com and the vita is selling too very good. Sony makes movies and own like 70 procents of all music.

mathburn1 Says:

Mar 10, 2012 - are you sure LG cinema tv show 1080p per each eye?it's use polarized right then why it show 1080p per each eye.

mathburn1 Says:

Mar 10, 2012 - LG have their way to solve this problem (WOLED).Samsung will find other element to use in Blue or Green sub-pixel if i know don't wrong.sorry for my bad english.

TurkishHegemony Says:

Mar 10, 2012 - not true, OLED was invented by Sony, they had the first very expensive and small OLED tv back in 2008. Sony just goes to the next technology, whatever it is OLED or CLED they will be both awesome becoz LED and LCD tvs suck

mathburn1 Says:

Mar 10, 2012 - they just the first that announce OLED TV for sale not the first who researh it right.who know that Crystal LED can beat the OLED who know that it will more efficient than OLED.Samsung make the OLED popular because of their smartphone that use AMOLED instead of LCD or LED(back lighting).sorry for my bad english.

jd18504 Says:

Mar 11, 2012 - for it to be passive only half of the horizontal lines are visible to one eye and the other half are visible to the other eye, so that is 540p per eye, however, each eye sees what the other doesn't see in the picture so it does combine to 1080p, it's not as good as 1080p per eye but it's good for the price. If you're in the market for a 3DTV you should just wait for OLED or Crystal LED, they have no input lag so they shouldn't have any ghosting at all,it will pretty much be perfect 3D

jd18504 Says:

Mar 11, 2012 - so there's no confusion, Crystal LED is the better one.

neotokyomedia Says:

Mar 19, 2012 - Any news from Sony as to when Crystal LED will be released?

mechamorafa Says:

Mar 28, 2012 - goodbye 3D crosstalk

ETBX1 Says:

Apr 2, 2012 - WOW! a REAL "LED TV"! When these come out, they will have to rename those LCD-backlit by LED screens. (I always imagined people seeing "LED TV" and thinking the pixels were LED's, not knowing it was just a backlit LCD). I never knew they made LED's that small. I knew OLED was a different technology, but it seemed to pick up where LED left off in small size. Probably won't be as thin or flexible as OLED's can be. So then perhaps OLED will become primarily for flexible and transparent displays.

Amir Khan Says:

Apr 18, 2012 - KEEP IT UP SONY

Skeith6114 Says:

Apr 21, 2012 - 2:54, OMG !!! The Difference is night and day !!!CLED is the future !!!

Mastakilla91 Says:

Apr 26, 2012 - Like Scorpiownd777 I also had the idea of using tiny LEDs (which are a very power efficient and durable source of light) as pixels to build a TV panel out of them. The thing is, that this panel technology would be in fact just like the OLED one, just eliminating the major disadvantage of OLED, the lifetime, because LEDs dont use organic materials while OLED doesEven the name says is OLED vs LED, no organic

elcabezon2222 Says:

May 25, 2012 - Like @Scorpiowned777 i thought the same.
