However it is a given that referees are going to miss some calls and Stanford still had a chance to tackle the guy and actually appeared to give up towards the end of the play (look at #84). California 25, Stanford 20. Thanks goodness we now have instant replay.

Feb 7, 2012 - I see a lot of comments about whether or not the guy was down at the 0:38 mark, but I can't say conclusively one way or the other. Where I think the game should have been called over was the lateral at the 0:55 mark. He releases the ball somewhere between the 28 and 27 yard lines, and the other guy catches it around the 25. That was clearly a "forward lateral" which is illegal, and the game should have been declared over FOR SURE at that point.

Mar 26, 2012 - Instant replay wasn't as good back then as it is today. They also most likely didn't have as many camera angles as we're used to. From my viewpoint, the right knee was maybe about three inches from the ground before he tossed it.
