Feb 8, 2012 - pilot did a good job that could have easily been a much worse ending

Feb 9, 2012 - Dude on boat. Did you get that.... WTF....Should have been lets go....
Sinkoocho01 Says:
Feb 10, 2012 - Very good job of piloting! Very sad end to a Bellanca Viking! That WAS a sweet airplane...
THEMAN080 Says:
Feb 11, 2012 - I wouldn't say this is good piloting at all... He put it down in a good place but he was SO lucky he didn't spin in! He was right on the edge of stall throughout the video and there were several wing drops... It would have been a much better idea to keep the nose down and make a controlled ditching on the water, rather than a hard impact like that which obviously caused significant injuries

Feb 12, 2012 - swim away

Feb 12, 2012 - totally agree with you, who knows what he was thinking, but then again in a emergency like that he probably had little time to think
MrJyracing Says:
Feb 15, 2012 - The plane I flew didn't have life jackets only a fire extinguisher !
zokacar Says:
Mar 5, 2012 - Very lucky he didn't enter the spin. Glad to see they've survived. The ground always makes the pilot reluctant to lower the nose, even though this is the only possible solution.
wkbrd15 Says:
Mar 11, 2012 - Not good piloting. Should have established best glide till pre flare. Regardless if he was to high or not he should have used flaps when he knew he had the lake made. That piper Arrow with the retracted gear would have sat down nicely on that smooth water. Every student pilot should log time with a CFI that has emergency experience. Granted it can be hard to find. Thanks to the dihedral, wing twist, and great design of the piper airfoil this pilot and passenger lived.
RcFlying121 Says:
Mar 26, 2012 - @Wkbrd15 I disagree, this guy looks Like he was aiming for the river, was too low and was stretching the glide to reach it. This explains why the flaps were not out and the gear was up.... he did a good job and if your a pilot, I'm surprised you don't realise what's happening here. :0)
OreosboyMovieMaker Says:
Mar 26, 2012 - Is he more worried about getting it taped? LOL

Apr 8, 2012 - "Destroyed in Seconds" Gee, such drama. They all lived.
4Firearms Says:
Apr 8, 2012 - You don't know what you are talking about. The rest of the world, speciaficly ASIAN areas, let people just DIE, including little kids. 'Americans always help. The AMERICANS recorded it, and then HELPED. This helped the FAA determine what happened. Don't be such a lonely troll.

Apr 14, 2012 - @4Firearms Thank you! Finally a realistic person. :)
MultiCessnaPilot Says:
Apr 14, 2012 - @RcPilot121 totally agree with you... He was stretching the glide.
wkbrd15 Says:
Apr 16, 2012 - Thanks for the correction. Wing looked piperish. Should have known by the tail.

SticknStringArchery Says:
Jan 29, 2012 - Kudos to the pilot! It looks like he ditched the plane in the best possible place. Having grown up with airplanes in my family and my dad and granddad both pilots that owned a cessna 206 super skylane, I would say this pilot make a very wise call. I flew the 206 for the first time at age 7. And my first time behind the yoke my dad taught me in am emergency flat terrain or water was better than trees. My life rather than my life and others. This pilot avoided trees and houses to hit the water.
