Title: Frank Sinatra - I've Got You Under My Skin
Added: Feb 22, 2009
Author: Nocaro
Duration: 3:45
Description:
Nelson Riddle, who arranged and produced this recording for Frank Sinatra in 1956, once remarked that it was "Ava who taught him how to sing a torch song". Ava Lavinia Gardner was born on Christmas Eve, 1922 near Smithfield, NC where she is now buried in a nondescript, small family plot. Certainly one of the most beautiful women of her day, she was married three times: Mickey Rooney, Artie Shaw, and last to Frank Sinatra. She lived most of her latter years in London, England, alone, except for a housekeeper and the company of a pet dog. And after she died in 1990, a black limousine was seen at the rear of her funeral procession. The occupant never got out of the car. Sinatra's recording of this Cole Porter number became a signature song for him the remainder of his life.

Feb 11, 2012 - Nelson Riddle arragned and conducted this--he did not "produce" it, Voyle Gilmore did. Back in these days the person who decided how the song would go, what instruments would play what/when was the arranger. This was all written out on shee music. The producer booked the room, hired the musicians/engineers etc. Today the "producer" is an ersatz arranger, but nothing is written/notated, it is just dictated in the moment as tracks are assembed/layered. Frank's records are all "live" performances"

Feb 27, 2012 - His songs are popular... Not necessarily always when he sings them. I think he's the greatest, but would you believe there are people who don't agree? It takes all sorts I guess, but yes, the songs are ever popular.

Mar 13, 2012 - Good man, considering the ''music'' we have today you shouldn't ask 'why the hell do I like this?' but rather say 'Hell yeah, I like this!'
