The Catskills, Adirondacks & Poconos thrived at a time when people left the city for a vacation that took a few hours to drive or could travel a day by train. Affordable airfare and new resort destinatons are what made it all happen. People wanted something more and something different. They found in in California, Florida and Las Vegas among other places.

Dec 17, 2011 - I just saw pictures on the Opacity website of the razing. The indoor pool is gone, as are several buildings. I especially liked that bridge over the outdoor pool. What a fabulous place this must have been in its hey day. Thanks for posting. Janice M

May 27, 2012 - I just looked this place up, they offered alot of things for ppl to do, if they would have maintained, remodeled, and redecorated as needed there's no reason this place shouldn't still be making big bucks. I have a mother in law that would have been in heaven with that many rooms to decorate, she said she always wanted a hotel so she could decorate each room a different way...lol The info I read said they started tearing it down in 2011.
