He never intended to design a whole new operating system.After that another project called GNU basically had a whole operating system ready, except for the kernel. So they used Linux as the kernel, and used the tools they made to create the operating system we all know and love today.

Now, the people who say git is hard are the same people whose brain has been reformatted by the use of SVN or CVS. If you have used SVN or CVS for anything other than experimentation, i.e. for anything serious, then your brain has been (some more than others) rewired to think the SVN or CVS way. And therefore you do not find git intuitive.I started with git. My brain finds git easy.
