Apr 26, 2012 - Actually OS X is based on BSD UNIX. Linux was based on minix. The GUI can come from many places (KDE, Gnome, ...)

Apr 28, 2012 - Somehow this video is flagged to not show up on my Blu-ray player at home, where it would be a great deal easier to watch. Please consider relaxing that restriction.

May 3, 2012 - erm, Linus didn't make a GUI - he made the Linux kernal GNOME was made by GNU, KDE by Matthias Ettrich etc
bartjoboy Says:
May 5, 2012 - No, he didn't make the GUI. He only made the kernel and even that was by accident really. He never intended to design a whole new operating system. After that another project called GNU basically had a whole operating system ready, except for the kernel. So they used Linux as the kernel, and used the tools they made to create the operating system we all know and love today.
mlsomeonetookmynick Says:
May 5, 2012 - OS X's userspace is based on FreeBSD, the kernel is Mach (NeXT.) Linux was inspired by Minix, but is in no way based upon it. Very fundamental, critical differences between Linux and Minix.

May 13, 2012 - Linus is very good as giving tech talks, That's a shame everybody wants him to speak only of boring things about what he wants for Linux and everything. They should just let him speak about some of the Linux's internals !

May 17, 2012 - I will give it to you that he made a great kernal. But I still think he is a dick. Ironic and slightly hypocritical I know.
Metal404Head Says:
May 17, 2012 - Git is definitely not the easiest to use, but in the end it makes everything so much easier when working with people.

May 20, 2012 - And without the original proprietary software development, there would be no linux or git.
iforce2d Says:
May 21, 2012 - if he hates CVS with a passion, what would he say about Source Safe!? :D
passcod4 Says:
May 23, 2012 - I meet so many people who think git is hard. It's not. That's because it's mostly doing things intuitively. Now, the people who say git is hard are the same people whose brain has been reformatted by the use of SVN or CVS. If you have used SVN or CVS for anything other than experimentation, i.e. for anything serious, then your brain has been (some more than others) rewired to think the SVN or CVS way. And therefore you do not find git intuitive.I started with git. My brain finds git easy.
