Feb 15, 2010 - To be honest, I´m not perfectly sure... ;-) But as I play the wind (melodic) instrument, I consider the chord progression as the modal scales based on the root "I" - then you can use both - even the 6-,5 (dominant), or 2-,1 (lydian)... The sound is slightly different, but works in both ways and I think that Maceo himself uses both of these two "systems"...
