Mar 7, 2012 - I hear that alot, Judo doesn't specialize a lot on ground fighting, it has it's techniques, but they specialize more on takedowns, BJJ was modified, changed, and new moves made. So it's impossible for it to be like you how you explained it. If thats the case, people would be taking Judo. Or people would study pankration instead of all the recent MMA stuff since according to you, Pankration would also just be an old form of MMA

Mar 8, 2012 - Today judo is an olympic competition sport with a lot of rules and less sophisticated groundwork. Before WW2 judo was much more like the recent BJJ. Anyway look up old judo footage, you will see an incredible amount of techniques that are just the same as modern BJJ. The "jiujitsu" part in BJJ is definately not to be compared with traditional japanese jiujitsu because that's a totaly different martial art. BJJ is much more like traditional judo then traditional jiujitsu.

Most Muay Thai fighters have great clinching and some of their clinch-training transitions well into great take down defense, in the form of balance and counter knees.

Apr 30, 2012 - Judo is the martial atrs which excluded strike arts from jyujyutu for sports game.Even though ,that is very strong.I have no idea why this kick boxer accepted this match.It's insane to think you can win pro judo fighter without grappling arts on the ground.
