Feb 9, 2012 - My name is Marcin and? i have dreams that people would listen to me in the future. I'm in love with music and singing, it's all my life. I have a speech impediment and the others don't want to give me any chances. I would like to sing in the opera or somewhere similar one day. If you could thumbs up my comment and let people see my channel then it would be the happiest gift for me ! Sorry if this spamm annoys you. Check out my version of ADESTE FIDELES !

Feb 9, 2012 - @Serinia4melodic When you put it like this, I almost agree. If one thinks in terms of today's pop singers, Tarja's timbre is different, and she sings better. But in the past when pop singers were required to have good voices and sing in tune, many of them had classical training. Today she may be closer to them than to classical singers. In the past she was a classical singer, but from what I heard her singing of e.g. Schubert, it wasn't up to classical music standards. IMHO.

Feb 10, 2012 - @jewelmarkess what standards? There are different techniques from the very difficult chiaro scuro, to puffy head voices (that mainly americans teach haha) even in classical singing. Sure I am speaking of the present... in the past, like the 90s, pop singers actually had a singing technique wether it was classical, or register singing. Sure Tarja can`t do 1 register singing like the great opera singers, but ppl who actually sing in smaller opera house can`t do it either:P

Feb 10, 2012 - Has Tarja ever sung this? I bet Mirusia Louwerse can sing it.
jewelmarkess Says:
Feb 10, 2012 - @dieseldog00 This requires an opera singer with a coloratura soprano voice. Tarja isn't a coloratura soprano, so she cannot sing this. Louwerse while not an opera singer now did have operatic training and could't have been an opera singer if she pursued it - she does have the voice for it. But hers is a lyric soprano voice, but I am not sure if her voice has the agility that coloraturas have as well as high notes and that is required here.
jewelmarkess Says:
Feb 10, 2012 - @Serinia4melodic I am not sure Tarja's has the technique to sing a full role without amplification. I heard a couple of songs she did that sounded lovely, but it looked like a small church and she was very close to the mic. But depends on the theater I guess. If it's really small and provincial maybe, but I was singularly unimpressed with her recording of O mio babbino caro, and this is probably the simplest aria there is in opera in terms of just hitting the notes.
Serinia4melodic Says:
Feb 11, 2012 - @jewelmarkess maybe a small role, a lead role requires stamina of the abdominal muscles. I can tell you a couple of simpler arias that I`ve personaly sung:)) Like L`ho perduta from Barbarina in Le Noze de Figaro.. it`s 1 page and very simple. Vedrai carino is also simple for the voice.. but has a fast tempo. But sincerely, every aria is hard.. because you have to put expression to it. make the phrases full of emotion and color your voice accordingly, you NEVER just hit the notes.

jewelmarkess Says:
Feb 11, 2012 - @Serinia4melodic True, this is why I said "in terms of hitting the notes". Some arias are relatively simple to hit the notes, but still difficult to do really well with artistry. I've also had voice lessons though as an adult amateur - my voice while pretty is too thin and nothing special or unique. Arias I tried in lessons were Voi che sapete, 1st Snowmaiden's aria and also Pamina's. It was ages ago. But even a simplest art song requires a lot of work - something many people don't realize.

Feb 9, 2012 - @jewelmarkess Tarja is a classical singer and even if she would have trained further for opera she is a lyric voice. she could never handle the agility and the high notes that the role of Lucia requires. But seriously.. a pop singer? HAHAHAHA. her timbre is not pop at ALL, and she actually sings 90% in tune... a thing that todays pop singer can`t do. and she even has a pretty good technique.
