Cat is turning Muncie Ind into a welfare state by paying $12 to 14 and hr for skilled welders. He is telling EMC London Ontario to take a 55% reduction in wage and benefits.

Jan 24, 2012 - Really depends, Autoworkers can make 100k including benefits and lots of overtime.....UPS drivers make 70k...Plumbers make within the same range. The problem is that if a company can't take large jobs, they can't pay workers more. With a shortage on skilled laborers, companies want to expand and take more work and contracts but can't. It would make no sense to pay your current staff more in that situation.

This was the beginning of the class separation we now experience between white/blue collar; it was insinuated that the labor force was easily replaced. Shortly after, auto makers began to design parts to be replaced by dummies, rather than repaired by experts. Wonder why repair bills are high? Not due to labor--all because of part cost. GM led the way with CAT 2nd..

Mar 8, 2012 - I've been saying "Mike Rowe is my hero" after watching dozens of Dirty Jobs episodes for a long time now. After seeing this, I say: MIKE ROWE FOR FREAKING PRESIDENT!!! To quote a friend of mine "I didn't fight for Iraqi Freedom, only to have mine taken from me at home." Literally millions of young veterans like myself are starting to get really serious about the nation we've sworn to protect, and the direction it's headed. Mar 31, 2012 - il reccomend pepole to distregard "high" education, im a industrial mechanic and i was part of a maintenace team on a Nitrogen fertilizer plant and that plant kept around 35 million pepole in asia above the starvation limit, and now i work in a Nepheline syenite (used to make any kind of glass and used in paint) plant and every individual need atlest 150 kg of nepheline syenite to get by in their daly lives so i fell more usefull doing that than sitting behind a deskcheers from norway
