Jan 10, 2012 - Autotune and pitch correction has been around since studio technology was invented, really. It's nothing new - I don't understand why people say 'these days' - studios have pretty much always had the ability to change a B flat into a C, etc.

Jan 10, 2012 - Even before auto-tune there were studio processes that did exactly the same thing. There were phase vocoders and other pitch shifting techniques. Cher's 'Believe' was the first major hit to use it so prominently, but it had been used long before that track to correct vocals. 60s+. Having said that about Cher - she's a good singer anyway, auto-tune was used on that track as an effect, not a cover-up.
