Mar 9, 2010 - Guys a jackass, learned nothing, plus why would I want to take advice from a series called "crash course"???

pat6270 Says:

Apr 9, 2010 - As a pilot, I would have to say the chances of an inexperienced passenger landing a plane alive, with this knowledge, would be close to zero. I give the video 5/5 though. In my opinion if you want to be able to do this, get yourself a copy of Microsoft Flight Sim (an old version is about $10). If you can land a small plane on that thing, your chances of landing for real are probably pretty decent. Passenger humor in this vid gets an A+.

May 3, 2010 - "steering column" LMFAO nothing like watching uneducated pilot talk BS.....

SB20330 Says:

Jun 16, 2010 - no rudder pedals on that turn??? People are going to think you operate a plane like a car.

superhot340 Says:

Jun 21, 2010 - LOL "So when you push this forward, the trees get bigger?" "That's right.."

Jul 29, 2010 - Don't really agree with that - it's easier to land using flap and this type of plane would run off the end of a lot of runways if landed clean.

Freiheitadler Says:

Jul 29, 2010 - No, it is definitely harder to land with flaps. It slows your airspeed which means the controls are less responsive. When you flare with flaps you have to pull back significantly more on the control column in order to achieve the angle of attack that you want on a flare.I'm not sure what kind of plane this is. However I'm going to guess it was a piper cherokee. They can land in a clean configuration and still have ample space for most runways. They don't move that fast.

bravobravo74 Says:

Jul 29, 2010 - Do you fly in the real world? If it is easier to land without flap and most runways are long enough to land without flap why does everyone land using flap? Okay, the controls are slightly less responsive at the slightly lower speed but the better view forward that you get when landing with flap is far more important. This is an Arrow II by the looks of it. Vref at MAUW is 80KIAS without flap, 75KIAS with 40 degrees of flap. That's for an Arrow IV (on which I did my cpl).

Freiheitadler Says:

Jul 29, 2010 - I fly in the real world. I only have my ppl though. You have your cpl so I thought you'd understand that flaps mean less control. All large planes use flaps because they need as much runway as possible. But this isn't a large plane in the slightest. The 172 can stop very quickly. Granted it approaches 10-15 knots slower then the arrow, and is smaller. My point is that if they are trying to teach someone to land a plane, adding flaps just adds a level of unnecessary difficulty.

bravobravo74 Says:

Jul 30, 2010 - The effect of flaps giving you less control is minimal and insignificant in comparison to the benefits that flaps give you when landing. All planes with flaps are designed to be landed using them (you won't find flaps-up landing performance data in your 172's POH), not just large ones. I'm guessing that you have the luxury of operating from a long tarmac runway. I personally find flapless landings more difficult because of the impeded view of the runway and the shallow approach.

Ramster211 Says:

Feb 10, 2011 - well, ususally the throttle sould be idle before touchdown

MrJoeBob12345 Says:

Feb 24, 2011 - Flaps are great. They reduce stall speed and let you use less runway on landing. Sure you get reduced control, but you don't need much on final approach.

Pimpmastahanhduece Says:

Mar 1, 2011 - a good pilot should be able to multitask. besides theres no reason cant keep from breaking mental focus while responding to a joke.

ylen13 Says:

Mar 19, 2011 - Anyone can land this type of plane. Now try landing 777 without trained pilot.

AzamatBagatov2 Says:

Apr 7, 2011 - "Anyone can land a plane of this type" lmfao. How many times have you done it?

ylen13 Says:

Apr 7, 2011 - Plenty

micheledc Says:

Apr 28, 2011 - yeah....this crash course is exactely HOW TO DIE WITH AIRPLANES!!

oceanofstorms123 Says:

Apr 30, 2011 - What plane is that?

AzamatBagatov2 Says:

May 2, 2011 - And I suppose your instructor didn't touch the controls during the landing in your first lesson, did he? In fact, why do we need trained pilots if "anyone can land a plane of this type"?

psygnosis666 Says:

Jul 1, 2011 - Is it me or are crash course and land a plane words that should not be together in the same sentance. ?????

redpunk Says:

May 26, 2012 - why not nauts?
