May 13, 2012 - Feast your ears folks (and your minds) on this, a classic, by one of the master songwriters. While he was/is not greatly known, Leon Russell, wrote this and many other songs which are instantly recognizable. And NO-BO-DY can sing this better than him.

And I like it all; Soul, Blues, Jazz, Rock, C&W, ...... Nor am I beholden to any artist or genre.Donny Hathaway, the Temptations, Amy Winehouse, and many other excellent artists have done this song and done it well. But, in my opinion, Leon sang the shit outta it. He left nothing out; nothing to improve upon when he sang this cut. Nothing.

Morgan singing this song to Johnny Carson on the Tonight Show, but I can find no record of that, and cannot find anywhere she may have recorded 'A Song For You'. It amazes me that so many people get more 'hits' on their recordings of the song. This is, for me, one time when the composer does a better presentation than anyone, and I mean anyone.

May 22, 2012 - My Mom's partner, lover, and best friend passed away 2 days ago on Sunday May 20th. That morning he put on this song for her and they danced for the first time in 4 years. They spent hours afterwards talking more openly than ever before. While she was making dinner he had a heart attack and didn't survive. 2 weeks prior he had undergone a quad bypass surgery with minor complications. Things were beginning to look good. He was 26 years sober... both NA and AA. R.I.P You will be missed.
