May 19, 2012 - Actually, I can play like that. There are many excellent guitarists who will never see the light of day when it comes to fame because of timing, breaks or distractions in life. I know this is '80. I started playing in 1979. What Rory is doing was nothing but a standard throughout the mid 60's forward with some twist. Technically you go back to the 50's and these licks were being originated. He's a great talent, I'd have more respect if he contributed more to melodic rock than rythym blue's.

I've been fortunate to see a load of guys then and the survivors now......they aint improved that much. As a former showband guitarist, Rory did melody as well as anyone when needed to but he was at his best generating excitement. ,There are good guitarits out there still Joe Bonamassa e.g, but not pulse racing
