Title: F5 Tornado in Elie, Manitoba on June 22nd, 2007
Added: Jun 26, 2007
Author: justin1569
Duration: 8:24
Description:
Here is a video of Canada's first F5 Tornado (upgraded from F4) taken from one mile away that severely damaged the western part of Elie, Manitoba on Friday June 22nd, 2007...the video ends with a second tornado (F3 Rated) near Oakville. This one was on the ground at the same time as the Elie tornado, but I didn't catch it until the Elie one lifted and I was driving towards Elie to see what happened there...I turned around and tried to intercept it, but it got rain-wrapped and fell apart after about 10 minutes.Filmed by Justin Hobson -- justinhobson85@gmail.com

May 19, 2012 - Was it making a sound? People say tornados make a chilling sound.

May 20, 2012 - Its the damage the tornado does, which is usually in correlation with wind speed. If a tornado with a very high wind speed were to go down over just a couple of fields and destroy some fields, it's going to be considered an F1. However, if that same tornado were to move into the town and destroy a lot of things, its going to have a higher number on the F scale.

May 20, 2012 - I've heard six of them up close. It sometimes sounds a lot like a train moving nearby. Also there's a windy crescendo and, depending on what it hits, I've heard splintering wood and crashing metal. Each one was a little different. I watched one walk from Arkansas into MphsTn one Sunday. It picked up so much water it blew itself apart over the Mississippi River, dumping a deluge on downtown Mphs.I swear that tornado "moaned" as it died. Don't want to hear any more of them.

May 22, 2012 - You cannot see the mad rotation ? Check out Jarrel EF5 before saying something as wrong as that.
dragonridley Says:
May 22, 2012 - This was an F5. Tornado ratings are based on damage severity, not the size of the tornado.

Paulsnextwife4 Says:
May 23, 2012 - My son is 9 and he gets on here sometimes. He isn't grasping the concept that tornadoes are graded by how much damage they do, not how physically big they are. Tornadoes are his passion right now.
dragonridley Says:
May 23, 2012 - I can certainly understand that.

TheUtahraptor1 Says:
May 25, 2012 - Tornadoes are not rated by their size! If a mile wide twister had winds of 60mph and did no damage it would still be an F0.

May 19, 2012 - I think there has been a communication error, this isn't an F5, it's an F0.5.
