The reason his damage is low is because of his natural magic pen that empowers his late game without having him be godlike in lane, and also because both his ultimate and q hit many targets without damage reduction. Thus, Xerath can go just AP and he'll always have magic penetration, meaning he's naturally does higher damage against both squishies and tanks, especially onces he buys void staff.

May 23, 2012 - No, he doesn't. He does need a lot of good items, so you need to kill a lot throughout the entire game. If you mess up early on and don't make up for it you are screwed for the entire game.

May 24, 2012 - so unfeed kennen is good against champions with mr and not xerath who actually has Natural magic pen? Kennen is significantly easier to use but its perfomance is lackluster in that scenario as well, if not downright terrible. He will be afraid to dash in cuz he will get owned after the stun since it wont kill due to lack of damage. At least a good xerath can ensure to join the teamfight from very far and unleash his full toolset.
