Oct 3, 2011 - I have a question but I hope it doesn't come off as offensive... I am simply puzzled by how quickly she has learned how to spell. Does sign language help them learn quicker? And if so, how?

Oct 3, 2011 - great question. I think it helps because they store that information in a different part of a brain vs oral language. She knew the ASL ABCs long before the written one. She was interested in spelling using her hand vs writing. It's fun for her so I think in that way it did help!

She's 17 months; we don't have ABC magnets, but she will take random fridge magnets and "copy" this video by saying "B E O D" or any other random combination of letters then shout "YAY!!!" and try to jump. Its too cute! She just loves watching Fireese videos :) Thanks!
