Apr 5, 2012 - Yes - most of the early (pre-90's) albums had Kate playing various low register keys for the bass. Sounds great - check out Wild Planet - their second album - for some more great bass sounds from Kate.

May 5, 2012 - FYI, I found out that it's a Korg SB-100 "Synthe Bass" on top that Kate plays. (Oops, Ebay value just went up. duh.)...Story says that Ricky self-taught himself guitar using that rig; does anybody know, if he re-strung the bottom two strings with bass strings? D and G maybe?-Does this make anybody else want to learn how to play a "Ricky-tized" guitar?

bzert281 Says:

May 5, 2012 - Dammit, we miss Ricky. (Hug for Cindy.)Aw, fuckit...(Hug for Keith)(Hug for Fred)(Hug for Kate)

bzert281 Says:

May 5, 2012 - Probably. -and that was probably because of the TV studio rules. I enjoyed it anyhoo. Great eye-work, guys!

May 8, 2012 - GREATEST BAND OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!

101Volts Says:

May 8, 2012 - For most early B-52's songs Ricky played in the tuning of DADxBB, The x means no string is in that slot. This song is in EBxxBB or EBExBB though. Ricky only used a hybrid set of Bass and Guitar strings for Rock Lobster and Dance This Mess Around; .105, .085, x, x, .026p, .022p tuned to CFxxFF I think he used a set of 10-46s for most early B-52's songs.

101Volts Says:

May 8, 2012 - Also, I have a Mosrite guitar that looks like his although it has a different name; The "Ventures II" Model. (Mosrite made three guitar designs under that name, Mine is of the third type) Judging from it's design, I think the only modification necessary to the guitar to accept bass strings is enlarging the tuner holes and even that might not be necessary if you can find bass strings of a short enough scale.

bzert281 Says:

May 9, 2012 - So, There's a Moon in the Sky (called the Moon) is played DADxBB? I always thought the chord progression on that was boss.I shouldn't ask the question, I should go try it, eh?

101Volts Says:

May 10, 2012 - Yes, It is. All of these B-52's songs are in that tuning or can be played in said tuning: 52 Girls; Lava; There's A Moon In The Sky (Called The Moon); 6060-842; Dirty Back Road (With a capo at the third fret); Devil In My Car; Quiche Lorraine (Though it's a bit easier if you tune the higher strings up two notes); Strobe Light; 53 Miles West Of Venus; And I heard some songs from Whammy! can also be played in this tuning. You can also play at least most of Give Me Back My Man in the tuning too.

bzert281 Says:

May 10, 2012 - Thank you, very much. I'll have to find time to try this out (Siri! Remind me...)Right now I...what the- excuse me, I have to run outside, there's a big...BIRD?...over my house, I need to shoo it away.

SanAoshi Says:

May 10, 2012 - i love the dancing girl.. :$

101Volts Says:

May 12, 2012 - Alrighty. BTW, I think I was wrong about "There's A Moon In The Sky"; I think the tuning was DAxxBB, It seems easier to play the ending without the D string.

DOBARS Says:

May 14, 2012 - Yellow pants... check. Duct tape on guitar... check. Beautiful, barefoot dancing woman... check. Beehive hairdo... check. Brilliant song. Check.
