williamlynd2 Says:
Apr 8, 2012 - The question of the apparent speed of aircraft landing when viewed from the cockpit is raised so often by viewers. The answer is that the camera is on a zoom setting which foreshortens everything in its sight. As a result, any objects coming towards the camera (in this case the runway), appear to move slowly. The problem that camera operators find is that if they are not on a zoom setting, you will only see the seated pilots and controls, but no view because of auto aperture settings. Yawn yawn!

Apr 16, 2012 - I discovered the same effect when I was a passenger in a car, and looked through the front through a pair of binoculars, and it looked as though we were travelling at a snails pace, when in fact we were doing about 80mph!!
