Another title from the "Dreigroschenoper" (Threepenny Opera) is the "Zuhälterballade", originally performed by Macheath and Jenny (Harald Paulsen / Lotte Lenya)For this video I decided to combine this haunting melody with images of the Great Depression... The images and the music seem a very good fit.This record features the original Dreigroschenoper-Band : the Lewis (later Ludwig) Ruth Orchestra under the direction of Theo Mackeben. This record is in astonishingly good condition for an 80 year old record. It is also a flea market find of recent weeks ! Aug 20, 2009 - Danke sehr Hendrik ! Ich war so froh als ich diese Platte sah und sie ist fast ungespielt... Es ist die einzige deutsche Dreigroschenoper Platte die ich habe (von der Originalbesetzung). Das Lewis Ruth Orchester & Mackeben sind grossartig finde ich (Mein Favorit ist der Kanonensong). In wirklichkeit klingt die Platte schöner als hier bei YouTube
