Jul 21, 2008 - The Ashanti were indeed dealers in slaves as means to prevent their own people from becoming enslaved.was this a good thing? no.and the Ashanti and Ghana goverments have apologised, celebrate emacipation and contact ceremonies for returning people of the diaspora.what have thoes who really benefited from slavery done.there are still many women and children all over the world sold into slavery. we should all be doing something about it

Mar 4, 2010 - My great grandfather was one of the 5000Asante men who went to war with Yaa Asantewaa against the British in this conflict. He was from Sewia. My great grandmother was pregnant with my grandfather at the time. My great grandfather perished in this war. As a result my grandfather never knew his father. It's a source of pride and sadness. My grandfather was Adomako Mensah, a prominent goldsmith who made some magnificent jewelry for the Asante and Denkyira royals. I miss Ghana.
