Sep 15, 2011 - Only had a 4 speed tranny. I took a look at one as a kid, it had what appeared to be afterthought tubes running cold air to the engine that I didn't like. The final GT, with the rounder rear end looked decent for a 1980s car.

Oct 1, 2011 - My mom had an '84 when I was little. We lost the car when it had a fire which destroyed pretty much all of the rear end (we got out in time though)! Now that I'm driving myself, I would absolutely love to have that thing back, even if it meant carrying extra belts along for the ride.

Feb 26, 2012 - Amazing how fire paranoia runs so rampant.The reason it gets remembered that way is because this car was discontinued not long after the fire recall, so that's the last thing people remember about it. The mid-engine layout also made people paranoid at the outset because it's "different". The problem was very limited actually, only about 300 cases.The fire "risk" is from people running early 4cyls out of oil until it threw a rod, and dumping oil on the catalyst. The recall addressed it.
