Nov 22, 2011 - I was wondering if it was possible to do different designs, like a basket weave pattern or DC pattern, along with this shell method, and at the same time for the blanket to come out proportional. I started off w/ the shell, but if I wanted to have rows of DC how could I accomplish it? BTW I love your videos!

Dec 6, 2011 - I have used your videos to teach myself to crochet and you are an amazing teacher. I have a quick question though, how would I go about making a straight edge once I'm finished with my piece?

Dec 29, 2011 - You are welcome.

Dec 29, 2011 - Work a chain between each peak, which will straighten off the edge. Upon completion, work an edging of single crochet.

Jan 7, 2012 - I have been crocheting for less than a month, I made a baby blanket from this video, booties and a hat from your other video's for my soon to be grandson. I have friends who can not believe I can crochet these things so soon! I have one who has been crocheting for 12 years, says she had trouble with this pattern, I sent her your link :-)

Jan 16, 2012 - Hi Theresa I'm woking on a shell stitch baby blanket and was wondering how I can add a border to it, and I saw you have a video on how to straighten out a shell stitch should I use that too so the border is even all the way around? Like so it wont be ruffledmon top because of the shell stitch?

Jan 17, 2012 - 2 chains - 1 shell. The written instructions are posted in the video details. You can also visit the link to my crochet blog, which will provide a symbol chart.

Mar 22, 2012 - hey..i love your tutorials. I am making my niece a baby blanket using this stitch, but cant figure out how to make a border around the blanket since the top of the blanket is zig zag. Hope you can help. Thanks!
tjw1963 Says:
Mar 23, 2012 - Continue around the 3 remaining sides with the pattern of the stitch so they are zig zag as well.
tjw1963 Says:
Mar 23, 2012 - You can work different patterns together. There will be some trial an error involved in figuring out if they will work and look good together.

Apr 11, 2012 - I just finished this blanket, my very first one. I did it with Red Heart camo colored yarn and I have given it to my son, who just enlisted in the army. I am so thrilled with the outcome. Thank you so much for your informative videos. I will be starting my next project tomorrow. I do believe that I am hooked. Thank you again!!!'

Nov 15, 2011 - So, I used the 5.5 size hook and the 4ply yarn. I tried chaining the suggested number of chains, but it seemed too short so I added about ten-ish more? It still seems like the blanket isn't long enough. I'm trying to decide if I make it longer to compensate for the width, but I was wondering if, with the edging, can I do a second row of edging? Would that work?
