Dec 11, 2011 - Oh, gosh. The visit from Vimean's mother was comedic gold--painful to watch, but very funny. (And it seems that Vimean's mom is quite accepting of Sros--if Vimean had stuck to the truth, she might've made life a lot easier for herself!) A lot of unexpected sweetness in this episode, but the final scene leaves me very worried for Sros and Chivorn.

Dec 12, 2011 - Vimean's mother = best character so far. More, more, more.
ssgrimss Says:
Dec 12, 2011 - The mom is a really good actress. *clap clap* not awkward to watch at all. Unlike some other actors i see -.-
CrazyBarang Says:
Dec 12, 2011 - Chanta's mom is great in this. Sros is such a great character. Where have we seen this actor before? Maybe it's just that he looks like Jaa Panom to me.

Dec 12, 2011 - i know rite like khmer it says - pleav -

Dec 12, 2011 - I don't understand your point. Please explain again.MatthewKMF Producer

KMFCambodia Says:
Dec 12, 2011 - Glad you like the actress playing Vimean's mother. (Yes, she also played Chantha's mother in 'AirWaves'.) The actor playing Sros - Bun Somphos - has not appeared in any previous KMF TV dramas or movies. But you can see him in a non-acting role as a reporter at the ECCC court for our documentary series 'Facing Justice'.MatthewKMF Producer
KMFCambodia Says:
Dec 12, 2011 - Yes, she's good. But I hope your criticism doesn't apply to the 'other actors' in 'Beauty of Life'. In my view, they'll all convincing - and talented. (Or we wouldn't have cast them, would we?)MatthewKMF Producer
KMFCambodia Says:
Dec 12, 2011 - In an ensemble piece, there can't be 'best characters'. One doesn't work without the other. It's like a jigsaw.Anyway, I'm glad you like this particular character.MatthewKMF Producer
KMFCambodia Says:
Dec 12, 2011 - Yes, she's a top-notch comedienne - certainly in Khmer terms. We have to use a fire extinguisher on her occasionally.Yes, you SHOULD be worried for Sros and Chivorn. Keep watching to find out why ...MatthewKMF Producer
CrazyBarang Says:
Dec 12, 2011 - I've been watching and re-watching the Facing Justice series. I can't believe I didn't actually recognize him. Hilarious. By the way, I may have my favorite characters and actors on these shows, but the casting is excellent, all around, always. It's obvious you weren't hasty in the process.
ssgrimss Says:
Dec 13, 2011 - oh no, i was saying generally to other actors who has similar roles to hers. And sometimes, they just make me cringe...
ssgrimss Says:
Dec 13, 2011 - Aren't ton-tins.... monopoly? lol for some reason i think it is
KMFCambodia Says:
Dec 13, 2011 - There are some who make me cringe too. But it's not always their fault. There are few directors in Cambodia with experience, judgment and talent to explain what 'overacting' is. Also, the TV audiences here have mostly only known actors who shout, pull faces and give 'performances' so ripe that the gungy stuff inside bursts out one second after the camera rolls. Because audiences laugh hysterically, actors think overacting is the right thing to do.MatthewKMF Producer
KMFCambodia Says:
Dec 13, 2011 - Not exactly. It's a form of community saving. A group of people put an agreed monthly amount into a collective pot, then can ask to borrow a larger sum from it (the pot) at a certain rate of interest. Tontins are usually run by local auntie figures.MatthewKMF Producer
MultiJenci Says:
Dec 13, 2011 - Well what i meant was that when the actor is talking it doesn't seem real. If you check out Khmer comedian and see how they act it's much more real and better. I'm not saying this actors are not good. I suggest they should say it like in real life but in polite way
KMFCambodia Says:
Dec 13, 2011 - Yes you're right. Most Cambodian TV comedians shout, scream, pull faces and overact all the time. We encourage our actors to speak in a natural way, reproducing conversations between real people. We don't want parodies of people like you see on most TV comedy shows. Thanks for your comments.MatthewKMF Producer
CampinBush Says:
Dec 14, 2011 - How you know so much about our culture?
MultiJenci Says:
Dec 14, 2011 - not the part where the 'overreacting' it jsut sometimes there's awkward part but they are khmer movies are getting better :D most of all better than thai movie i watch most of them are violence D:<
ssgrimss Says:
Dec 14, 2011 - I know they're trying hard to portray their characters, but overacting just makes it worse. And to me personally, i sometimes even laugh during situations that are supposed to be serious, because the overactings are just too ridiculous. And, i don't believe people do that in real life.
