Feb 25, 2012 - I'm not dissing Deathcab, The shift half way through ruins it for me. The first half is seriously one of the best songs ever and the last half is weak and boring. It feels like they were writing this and they got bored halfway through so they took part of another song and slapped it on the end. The juxtaposition of the sounds is jolting. The energy shift kills it. Its an anti-climax. I wouldn't even care to comment if the first half wast so brilliant and the second half wasn't so weak.

I do agree that the beginning half is pure genius, but the last 2 minute instrumental isn't a waste. If Death Cab didn't have a reason to put it there then it would't be there, but it is there. There's some reason it's there, but maybe you just haven't figured it out yet.

Musicians leave intervals of silence and light instrumentation often to allow your mind to work its own "words" to the music. My guess is you've stopped using the imaginative part of your brain and it has withered away. Try to nurture your imagination a little and appreciate that an artist has given you the chance to be creative in your own mind
