The problem is not the company the monopoly is using, is about predicting the demands of the people. Changing the company is not a solution. If the monopoly have another company that can satisfy the consumers, is because they know how to satisfy them and they didnt need to end with the first company to begin with.

Its not one company that buys the shares of the others, its a bunch of major shareholders that decides to work together. See the difference?

The only way to profit in the free-market is selling your products, and in order to sell it, your product have to be able to satisfy more consumers than the products of other companies. If some of the companies of one market get together and determine the prices, or supress a new technology that would lower prices, this is not a free market anymore.

You start with restriction of competition and mutual interest with a handful of companies and you end up having control over the larger share of the market, IF you and those companies survive the competition long enough. Like Apple and Microsoft.
