Jan 29, 2012 - Ah ok, thanks for clearing that up!
bille77 Says:
Jan 30, 2012 - Vintage gear is way overrated. Big dislike. These guys fuck with poor bastard's brains, who really believe in that vintage bullshit.
BucksStudent Says:
Feb 5, 2012 - Yes Carl, you know everything about guitars, and we know nothing.
alijav091 Says:
Feb 6, 2012 - its lovely aint it, especially with maple necks. ive got ppl having other guitars totally drooling over mine..
060steve Says:
Feb 11, 2012 - he fucked up that guitar
henryshomebrew Says:
Feb 17, 2012 - thumbs up if you pee on the side of the toilet to make less noise
benjaminshinobi Says:
Feb 28, 2012 - What the hell is going on at 2:47 ? It LOOKS like he is doing some kind of natural harmonic (tapping the fret) after hitting the string with his pinky? OR is he is hitting with the pinky and then doing a "pinch harmonic" type deal with his thumb?
tylerhiermusic Says:
Feb 28, 2012 - I have this DVD. It came from a book I bought at Barnes&Nobles about Fender guitars. AWESOME BOOK AND DVD! Buy it! It was like $21.99 (I think).
dressedtosmellgood Says:
Mar 3, 2012 - hes really illustrating that throaty neck pickup by playing that swarm of indistinguishable gnatshit notes there
KHGuitarFreak1988 Says:
Mar 16, 2012 - It's like playing a natural harmonic, 12 frets up from the each note you've fretted with your left hand. The index finger touches the string 12 frets up from that, and your thumb plucks the string...
ahpollyolly Says:
Mar 17, 2012 - Have a 56' Custom Shop re-issue Strat - off the shelf and set up to perfection by the store. Plug in through a Mex Blues Deville via a few pedals... Sounds just like it should and apart from the bridge pick up tone mod have no need to change anything (guitar or amp..). The rig just sparkles like Leo intended... I smile at the way clothing fashion affects other aspects of our lives... Why buy a nice new pair of jeans when you can spend a fortune on a new 'trashed' pair. Where's that sand paper..?
LfunkeyA Says:
Mar 17, 2012 - vintage stuff is better, but not as much as they say it is. a big part of why it is so expensive is for historical and brand-name reasons.
peonwarrior Says:
Mar 27, 2012 - JIM CARREY!!!
infectionsman Says:
Mar 29, 2012 - Well, often you can find great vintage instruments cheaply that were made by other less sought after companys. Besides, id rather have an old strat than todays cost-cut and overrated fender /gibson guitars. those companies died in the 70s
ThePenguin432 Says:
Apr 7, 2012 - 15 gibson marketing executives!
BelcourtChampagne Says:
Apr 10, 2012 - seriously....if you find out how to do it please tell me what that is!!!!!!!!
MyDanelectro Says:
Apr 13, 2012 - nice to see a guitar play know their theory.
100DarkDude Says:
Apr 19, 2012 - john frusciante is playing also a stratocaster like this
DanPanther1 Says:
May 4, 2012 - I would tend to agree, but I'm not At Carl's level.Dan
afsartori Says:
May 8, 2012 - I would perhaps think that if you don't feel the body it means that the body is damping the vibrations like a rubber would. On the other hand, if you feel it vibrating it is a sign that the sound waves are flowing through the body and coming back to the strings, resonating with it and improving the sustain.
lexgarnier Says:
May 19, 2012 - Carl Verheyen = underated.
phallystorm Says:
May 23, 2012 - It all about the VIBE!!
SSVplus Says:
May 25, 2012 - Statements like that on manufacturing quality are Time-Sensitive. You have to update yourself with current facts. Fender USA strats are much better made now 2010 onwards. Fit n' finish have gone up. I admit I wouldn't buy a new American Fender at the price they were asking decades ago. But now, they're worth every penny.
saggy1998jam Says:
May 26, 2012 - i'm getting a sunburst stratocaster

3dsman Says:
Jan 29, 2012 - Nope.... if you look at all the gizmos on the market that are designed to improve the transfer of the string energy to the guitar neck/body, it's apparent most experts agree it's all about the energy exchange with the body. But I'll add that it's EXCHANGE, not transfer. Meaning the strings and body symbiotically RESONATE and that's really what keeps the string ringing longer. Peace.
