Title: Bass Boat Crash
Added: May 9, 2009
Author: propman4
Duration: 4:58
Description:
We were out filming Greg in his boat when he hit the wave behind the boat at the wrong angle and too fast. Boat speed was around 70 mph. Greg's Life Vest and kill switch SAVED HIS LIFE. He was unconscious for about 10 minutes. As you can see the boat never turned over. Greg suffered a broken collarbone. I'm showing this in hopes that a lot of you Bass Boat Drivers have gotten lazy about putting your Vest on and hooking up your kill switch. All of you have hit a suprise wave from out of nowhere at speeds of 70 mph or more. Don't let this happen to you.

Aug 21, 2009 - I am glad the gentleman is o.k and that no other folks were injured. It is a learning experience but not about kill switches and lifejackets (those are golden). The lesson is to respect your high performance boat and others on the water. Intentional wake crossing (not jumping) should be calculated......no more excuses for your friend.....now go ahead and delete my entry.

Aug 23, 2009 - What you don't see is that this happened at the end of a long day of wake crossing. This was not the first time to cross the wakes, just the last time!!

Aug 31, 2009 - Always wear your kill switch and life jacket! Not to be negative but this guy needs to learn to drive a bass boat!In his 1st few passes the boat was chine walking very bad which is a sign of being on the verge of out of control,an experienced driver knows how to prevent the boat from chine walking.Second mistake is crossing wakes at full speed and not trimming the motor down.Glad he is OK,and hope he learned a few lessons from that.

Sep 3, 2009 - You my friend are a major reason why bass boats and bass fishing is frowned upon in alot of areas. This makes the whole BASS fishing community look like idiots. Glad you are ok, and like anything in life, its a hard lesson learned. Glad you survived. I've done similiar stuff and am lucky to be watching this video. Get well soon.Best regards.

Sep 4, 2009 - If your motor wasn't up so much. This wouldn't have happened. Trust me. i learned that myself!

Sep 5, 2009 - it gives me chill to watch this video i witness the same type of accident in july of 2001 lost my dad in a speed boat accident the boat was a Phazar Doral 23 with a 454 merc with a blower
xSGTSANDERSx Says:
Sep 7, 2009 - This is why you trim down in waves
divimon2000 Says:
Sep 7, 2009 - Let me guess. Lawsuits against the boat company, guy that made the boat wake, photographer (when the camera is on you do stupid stuff) and maybe the state for not posting a lower speed limit?? America and ambulance chasers, gotta love it.
everywhereonce Says:
Sep 8, 2009 - And a fishing boat needs to be this fast because, why? Really. How fast are the fish man?

r32adt3db Says:
Sep 8, 2009 - If you do tourney's you want to have a good 'hole shot' when you're taking off and top end when your going from spot to spot. It can mean the difference between winning and losing if you're a good fishermen. Bass are fickle little bastards. And these $50k bass boats are engineered extremely well, and almost impossible to sink, even with a hole in the hull, but still takes a damn good driver to control a 250cc Merc in rough waters.
4550lds Says:
Sep 9, 2009 - I would like to know also. Was there any damage to the boat?
StCroixBoix Says:
Sep 9, 2009 - I suppose he would have been much better off wearing a helmet, too. OUCH!Hi Joni!

streamkid20 Says:
Aug 20, 2009 - a kill switch is connected to a small lanierd clipped to your wrist or life vest that shuts the motor off if its pulled off the dashboard. so this way if the throttle was open the boat wouldnt have just keep driving by itself,
