Jan 16, 2012 - Sorry. Opinions could only go so far before they are basically blatant lies. To say she is exhibiting NO emotion is like saying she is speaking instead of singing. It isn't a matter of opinion because your statement is actually a lie. She is most definitely feeling the song and I know I feel it too, thanks to her incredibly intelligent and insightful take.

Jan 16, 2012 - Another whacko telling blatant lies. I guess your definition of acting is standing there looking like a corpse, eh? Or the complete opposite of Sutton's beautifully nuanced, expressive performance. Bravo! XD
LaMisereHQ Says:
Jan 16, 2012 - Nah, Lea Michele did not suck when I saw her at the Hollywood Bowl. She was pretty good. Sorry you don't think it is Sutton's role, even if she already owns it. OK if you don't like her, but some rationale would help. I CAN tell you why it was her role, though. Not only did her voice soar live but the intensity had my palms sweating. It wasn't about high notes either (even though she nailed them). It was her dedication to inhabiting the mind and soul of the character.

Jan 16, 2012 - @LaMisereHQ sorry dude! but I think you just adore her for her pretty face and not her voice. she didnt ACT it out. there was no emotions nor acting while shes singing it. she just stood there and sang..nothing compared to Lea Salonga. why dont you youtube her and look for yourself? Lea Salonga showed much compassion to this song. and I am not telling lies.

Jan 20, 2012 - Yeah, what's up with that? "I've only ben pretendeeeeng!" Lol! Obviously she needs speech lessons in addition to voice and acting lessons.
ellz1020 Says:
Jan 21, 2012 - she has no emotion in this at all

Jan 28, 2012 - I love how your prving ur a loser by showing everyone u named ur username about how u hate her.
LaMisereHQ Says:
Jan 29, 2012 - Hahaha. It's best to sit back and relax and watch true morons prove they're, well, true morons. Anyone with an ounce of brain power could see this thread is obviously overrun by very persistent trolls who have beef with Sutton. Not to mention, just hate being wrong and being told so. So much so, they're willing to make asses of themselves. Nobody and nothing can take away the fact Ms. Foster gave a great performance. Not even elementary level name-calling. XD Sutton was PERFECT in the role!

Feb 5, 2012 - sutton seems very static here. how long ago is this? but i have to say, i think i prefer this to samantha barks.lea michele's take on eponine was actually very good and is better than sutton and barks/obligatory-lea-michele-comment-on-anything-musical-theatre-related-on-youtube-done (boy, her PR team must love us)
Elphieinthemaking Says:
Feb 28, 2012 - I loved this performance, very beautiful in my opinion :)
CareBearsALot Says:
Mar 20, 2012 - The best Eponine is a matter of opinion. I love Sutton Foster and am a huge fan, I think she's good but I don't think this is her greatest role. By the same token, my favorite Eponine is Frances Rufelle. It's just a matter of taste and how you personaly see the character.
MrDuffmann22 Says:
Apr 11, 2012 - i loved that pause after "that i have never known". She does use tht typical vocal technique and she sounds almost identical to many other singers who sang this song. But to say that her performance is bad is a lie, and it is obvious that she has emotion. You must be blind nd deaf to say she lacks emotion.
thatoperaguy Says:
Apr 20, 2012 - the vocals are phenomenal as always! The emotion is not there. I'd rather watch a million other far lesser singers who can move me more than this.
walshdanny98 Says:
Apr 27, 2012 - 118 dislikes. really?! shes amazing.
schoolplaystars1214 Says:
May 2, 2012 - I don't see why so many people dislike this. Though her voice may be slightly narrow, it is far more open than many singers I've heard perform this song. I think she does a very good job.
balletlover39 Says:
May 17, 2012 - I've seen about 9 different actresses portray Eponine in Les Miz and the two absolute best were Michelle Nicastro and Sutton Foster. Sutton was so good that I went back 3 more times to see her in the Los Angeles run. At one performance, her microphone blew out just before "On My Own" started but she went on and sang it without a mic and you would never have known it. Her voice was so powerful it boomed throughout the theatre. I thought to myself, "this girl is gonna be a star".

LaMisereHQ Says:
Jan 16, 2012 - The ones spewing outright lies fail to provide evidence to support the claims she sucks. Until then, your opinions are little more than hot air. I saw Ms. Foster's Eponine 4 times on tour, and to date, nobody has even come close to the force of her acting. So subtle yet so effective. She avoids the overdone gestures and replaces them with far more intense ones that are timed to the music and support the character's inner struggle. Her expressions alone grab you. The resigned ending poignant. <3
