"On the Water" by the Walkmen, directed by Nir Ben Jacob, from 2008's beautiful and brilliant "You & Me"Couldn't find it on YouTube, so we uploaded this nice video by one of the best bands out therehttp://www.myspace.com/thewalkmenhttp://www.marcata.net/walkmen/http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Walkmen/68240789745Lyrics:All the windows are glowingThe branches bending lowThe skyline is swingingRocking back and forthWalking down this dirt roadWatching at the skyIt's all I can doIt's all I can doAll the years keep rollingThe decades flying byBut ahh, the days are longSo here's one to the pigeonsThe tugboats on the riverHere's one to youFor walking in my shoes, ahOh, you know I'd never leave youNo matter how hard I tryYou know I'd never leave youAnd that's just how it isOh, everybody sees right throughOh, the staticThat is, dear, everyone but youOh, it's funny to think it throughEverybody... that is, dear, everyone but you

Jul 13, 2011 - Absolutely brilliant song and video combination. The video beautifully and bitterly captures the imagery of the lyrics. I rank this one right up there with Radiohead's "There There". The Walkmen are a great band. Great music. Great lyrics. Great moods & visions. "The Blue Route" and "I Lost You" have no equal in weight. They don't get enough airplay and they should be head lining concert venues instead of playing 2nd fiddle to lesser bands like Fleet Foxes.

Aug 28, 2011 - i am a new media major about to do a senior project, working with after effects/maya. would like to figure out who made this video. it is well done. there is much to speak of the cinematography. that's what really makes the video. people who have never dealt w animating have no idea how much work goes into every last detail. love this band - seen them live many-a-time. love animation. if you love this, might like this one too:

Jan 8, 2012 - Have to agree with others here: I've rarely felt/seen such a perfect video/music combination as this and I've seen a *lot* of music videos since I was a teen in the 80s. I feel like a teen again just watching this video & falling in love with the song over & over. The way it builds to that beautiful intensity and just funny things like Leithausers "haiiiow" yell at 1:17. The lyrics are understated and thus work as good poetry, but this only came to my attention *because* of the great vid.

Jan 18, 2012 - Can anyone tell me whether the band officially released this or whether a fan made it? Thanks. Either way it's great; just wondering.

Jan 18, 2012 - In my opinion, the only way someone could have disliked this song and video is because it tells so much truth that it hurt.
