Oct 22, 2011 - @thesami1973 Richard said she made the decision to shelve the album. Just wanted to clear that up. We all love her dearly.

Oct 22, 2011 - Yes it was her, but she recieved so much opposition to it, and the record company said they would not release it! She asked to go back into the studio to tweak things a bit....but they would not budge! She did WANT it released!! So her hands were tied....shame on them!!

Oct 23, 2011 - @thesami1973 - Karen spent $500,000 of her money to help create a solo album. She absolutely wanted her album released (she thought it was great). It seemed her parents didn't (she lost weight after they heard it first). But for certain, her brother Richard, Herb Albert and others in management atA&M records did not like it enough. If front of Karen, NONE of them supportedit in a meeting (when the time came to hear it). Only Quincy Jones liked it. Karen had NO choice but to give up...

Oct 23, 2011 - Read a news article I found posted in a fan website: l e a d s i s t e r. c o m (remove the spaces) - but once there click on Articles and then click on Karen Carpenter's Second Life).Anyway, in this news article, Richard had the sharpest criticisms! Even accusing Karen of stealing the Carpenter sound on some songs!! (I would think he did that after the meeting). But I hope that isn't true. That means she was backstabbed by her own brother...what a shame!

Oct 24, 2011 - As great as Karen's voice was (and Bob James' talents) it's obvious to me the the magic was in the both "The Carpenters" not just her lovely voice.

Nov 4, 2011 - very stylish vid i've always loved this song the vocal arangements are more daring than anything richard did oops didn't mean to sound rude but this is one of karen's moments x

Nov 5, 2011 - He said that, yes. Karen also told a journalist once in the 70s that Richard had "the flu" when he in fact was sick as a dog from his dependance on Quaaludes and was too ill to travel with her.Richard's statement is just a "for the record" statement. Anyone who does his or her research can see she her hand was forced and that the project meant everything to her. In fact, it was one of the last things she ever spoke of to anyone - talking to Phil Ramone the night before she died.

Nov 14, 2011 - I see 11 tone deaf people listened to this at some point! One of the greatest voices of all time bar none!! We miss you Karen and we love you!!

Nov 14, 2011 - Karen Carpenter has the voice of an angel.

Nov 15, 2011 - Wrong Richard is, his music is epic and timeless, but she was the voice of the Carpenters and wished so badly her brother would get the amount of recognition he deserved that she always received.

Dec 28, 2011 - I used to hear her when I was growing up in high school and used to think it was way to surupy, but now I when I hear her voice it is clear she was in touch with every emotion I was feeling at the time but didnt understand. Karen and Richard were a fabulous talent and I love listening to their music, its timeless. It is rele too bad that she thought she was fat, because the world today needs a great love message that she always had in her songs and in her heart.

Jan 30, 2012 - The picture of Karen at 1:00 is the all time best photo of her. If I could only have the music of one group/person it would be The Carpenters, hands down.

Feb 5, 2012 - ANGELIC, UNFORGETTABLE, ETERNAL...March 2, 2012On this date six decades ago, the world welcomed the incomparable Karen Carpenter. Her matchless voice has touched the lives of millions, and she continues to inspire people from all walks of life. May you always be at peace Karen, and may you always be beautiful. This is a better place for you having been here, and you will never be forgotten. You will forever be our Karen Carpenter..

Apr 20, 2012 - Richard Carpenter sucks. If this record had been released, Karen would probably still be alive. This solo material is at least as good as anything the Carpenters were doing at the time.
jennifercorly Says:
Apr 21, 2012 - i had never heard this song before...the record company should have released this...she is such a great talent and the carpenters sound had kind of run its course by then...music was changing...at least give it a chance! you would think herb albert would realize she was the future...and had unlimited potential for a solo career...my god...shame on them...karen was of course devastated when she finally came into her own and wasn't singing tired carpenter songs at concerts anymore!! great video
EduardoSF1978 Says:
Apr 28, 2012 - Karen you should be here, with us, in 2012. And show this generation what real singing is.
maleficentdiva Says:
May 2, 2012 - EXACTLY! Karen blows Lady Ga Ga and the rest of the con-artists of nowadays out the water!
Superbook4Eva Says:
May 9, 2012 - I honestly think Richard knew Karen's record would be a smash if it saw the light of day and would push him even farther into the background than he already was. Karen did shelve the solo record to please her brother but I think that's because she didn't realize - or believe - how great she was on her own. She'd learned from the way her mother treated her that only Richard was worth anything, and came to feel that way about herself too.
